Thud!

That's the sound of the knife digging it's blade into the backrest of Chaos' chair-just a few inches from the side of his face. But Chaos remained sitting not flinching.

"What were you thinking, dad?" Amethyst asks as her hand remain on the hilt of the knife. Her face is confused but her actions are enraged.

"I'm just doing what I think is right," Chaos answered, not breaking eye contact.

Amethyst didn't say a word as she pulled out the knife and back away from Chaos. She started pacing back and forth across the room.

"Amethyst, dear, you have to trust me." He tried to convince her. "I have a reason."

"What? Anong rason?"

"Just...Just sit down first."

Sinunod naman siya ni Amethyst. Mula sa ilalim ng lamesa ay may tumalon na tasa at takure ng tsaa. "Drink that, it'll help calm you down."

Humingang malalim si Amethyst bago kumuha ng baso at uminom.

"Just listen to me, Amethyst." Chaos said. "Something is wrong. Something is about to happen in that town. Something that has something to do with what we're dealing right now."

"May mangyayari naman talaga lalo na pag pumunta ako doon," sagot ni Amethyst.

"You don't understand. I think he's special-that boy."

Natigilan si Amethyst sa sinabi ni Chaos. "Like Hyron?" Tanong ni Amethyst.

"No, not like him. He's actually pretty normal. Literal na dragonspawn lang siya," sagot ni Chaos. "I'm talking about that." Tinuro ni Chaos ang kamay ni Amethyst. Ang kamay niya na nakabasag ng baso kanina na si Yael ang naglinis.

"I think he's different, Amy."

"Hindi ko naiintindihan."

"That's why I'm telling you to give it a chance."

"Give what a chance?"

"That town."

Saglit na natahimik si Amethyst. "They will not change. The same way I haven't change."

"I think he can change them," sabi ni Chaos habang tinutukoy si Yael. "The same way he changed you."

"Anong bang ibig mong sabihin?" Naguguluhang tanong ni Amethyst.

"You'll see."

Natahimik naman si Amethyst. Hindi dahil nagkaroon siya ng realization. Kundi dahil hindi niya talaga maintindihan ang sinasabi ni Chaos.

"You need to go, sweetheart. Do you trust me?"

"Do you trust me?"

Saglit na nagflashback sa isip ni Amethyst ang sinabi ni Chaos noong una nilang pagkikita. Gayunpaman...

"I'm not going," matigas na sabi niya. "I don't care even if that town disappear from the map tomorrow. It should burn in hell."

"Can you really let him go by himself? Even if you know he might be in danger?" Chaos asked referring to Yael.

"Why should I care, dad?" Pagmamatigas ni Amethyst. Tumayo siya mula sa pagkakaupo at inayos ang damit. "I don't know what made you think that something changed in me, but you're wrong. I don't change. I can't change. That is my curse." She met Chaos' eyes. "And it will stay that way for the rest of my miserable life."
