"Alam niyo na ba?"
"The Cordelia is missing."
"But it's secured in the temple."
"Then...ibig sabihin may nagnakaw."
"The Cordelia is stolen!"
"Shhh! The king is here."
The frantic murmurs in the hall went silent at our arrival. Papa went at the center of the dais as he gaze at the frenzied merpeople.
"Gaya ng inyong nalalaman, ang Aquellia ay hindi natagpuan sa templo." Papa stated with great devastation.
Muling umalingawngaw ang mga nangangambang bulong-bulongan.
"Anong gagawin natin?"
"We might've angered the goddess!"
Nagsisimula na silang magpanic. All I could do was look down. This has never happened before...only now, when I am the one who will claim the jewel.
Papa was about to silence them when a strong current passed by us, almost washing the merpeople towards the dais. After a while, the current went back to normal. We all turned to the entrance of the hall where a dolphin with skin as shiny as a moon stone and eyes of the color of sapphire. It was holding a rolled parchment on its snout.
"An envoy! It's an envoy from the goddess!"
The sea of merpeople parted when Papa went down the dais and swam towards the envoy with us following behind him. All eyes were on him as he carefully unroll the parchment.
An illusion made out of light came out of the parchment like a hologram but underwater. It was a mermaid with its eyes glowing like how pearls reflect light. Her veil was made of fishnets and stars and pearls adorn her hair. It was one of the goddess' alter egos that she sends when she communicate with us.
"𝓐𝔂𝓪𝓷𝓲𝓼..." It spoke. And everyone before her bowed her head including us.
"𝓨𝓸𝓾 𝓱𝓪𝓿𝓮 𝓲𝓷𝓯𝓾𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓽𝓮𝓭 𝓐𝓶𝓪𝓷 𝓢𝓲𝓷𝓪𝔂𝓪." We can feel its power through its voice even though its only an alter ego. I can feel everyone wanting to protest and beg for forgiveness. But nobody interrupts when a goddess is speaking.
"𝓢𝓱𝓮 𝓲𝓼 𝓭𝓮𝓮𝓹𝓵𝔂 𝓭𝓲𝓼𝓼𝓪𝓹𝓸𝓲𝓷𝓽𝓮𝓭 𝔀𝓲𝓽𝓱 𝔂𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓭𝓮𝓮𝓭,"it continued. "𝓑𝓾𝓽 𝓐𝓶𝓪𝓷 𝓢𝓲𝓷𝓪𝔂𝓪 𝓲𝓼 𝓶𝓮𝓻𝓬𝓲𝓯𝓾𝓵."
Hope returned to us with what the alter ego said last. So there is still hope for us to quell the anger of the goddess. I felt relieved.
"𝓢𝓱𝓮 𝔀𝓲𝓵𝓵 𝓰𝓲𝓿𝓮 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓽𝓲𝓶𝓮," A necklace with 5 pearl pendants materialized on its palm. "𝓔𝓪𝓬𝓱 𝓹𝓮𝓪𝓻𝓵 𝓻𝓮𝓹𝓻𝓮𝓼𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓼 24 𝓱𝓸𝓾𝓻𝓼. 𝓛𝓮𝓽 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓷𝓮𝔀 𝓹𝓸𝓼𝓼𝓮𝓼𝓼𝓸𝓻 𝔀𝓮𝓪𝓻 𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓼𝓮𝓷𝓭 𝓱𝓮𝓻 𝓽𝓸 𝓻𝓮𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓿𝓮 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝒞ℴ𝓇𝒹ℯ𝓁𝒾𝒶."
