"Oh man, I can't believe how late I am!"

Running around with one leg in your jeans and a toothbrush hanging out your mouth, you hustled your way to the closet and rummaged through to find your favorite blouse. Your shift at the town's coffee shop started in fifteen minutes, and you had woken up well... five minutes ago. Why did you have to binge watch all of Stranger Things until three in the morning??

Axel sat reclined against the bed frame with his arms folded behind his head, a sly smile dancing on his face. His eyes darted left and right from following you around back and forth between the bedroom and bathroom. "How about you call out today? I'm off of work, and you've been working for over a week straight as it is. Besides, last night was the first time we were able to spend more than two hours together except for sleeping."

"I know, Axel, but if we're going to make rent this month I have to take the couple extra shifts," you sighed. "I promise I'll make it up to you."

Reaching out and gently grabbing your wrist, Axel guided you to his side of the bed. "Don't you wanna have some more fun with me, babe?" He wiggled his eyebrows and winked at you, making you giggle.

"Always." You placed both hands on either side of his cheeks and kissed his forehead. "We'll have more fun later tonight."

You resumed getting ready as quickly as you could, throwing on a bit of makeup so you didn't look too sleep-deprived from the night before. Just as you were about to leave the bathroom you ran smack into Axel's strong chest standing in the doorway. When you tried to scoot around him, Axel blocked your path with an arm and a leg leaning against the wooden frame.

"Ax, c'mon I'm late as it is!"

"Please just call out? One day is not going to set us back with the rent, okay? I miss you." Axel gave you his signature pouty-face with his lower lip sticking out and all, a face he knew was hard for you to resist. Cheap shot.

"I miss you too, Axel, really! I promise: when I get back from the shop later this afternoon it'll be you, me, all the food we can eat and the night in bed. Deal?"

"Make that dinner in bed and we've got a deal."

"Done! Now, can you please let me go?"

"Nope, sorry sweetheart. Not until you make your payment."

"My— what?"

"The toll here is one kiss," Axel winked.

You couldn't help but laugh at his smugness. "Ohh, you think you're so clever, don't you?" You tried poking his stomach where you knew he was ticklish, but the man's stubbornness held together and he only merely flinched at your failed attempt to move him out of the way.

Axel lowered his head down to your level (yes, the man is a TREE compared to you) and waited for his kiss. You aimed for his cheek, but Axel turned at the last second and planted his lips onto yours. The kiss started out soft and unexpected, but as the seconds turned into minutes the kiss grew stronger and more passionate. The wet, sweet taste of his lips and tongue filled your mouth at an intoxicatingly rate. Before you knew it, you were wrapping your arms around Axel's neck and he was walking backwards into the bedroom, guiding you with him.

A moment later, you found yourself laying on top of Axel back in bed. The warmth between your tummy pressed against his was inviting and his eyes staring into yours were mesmerizing. It really had been a while since the two of you spent some decent quality time together, and you couldn't help but feel guilty about it. An urge of spontaneity started to overcome you, telling you that maybe going to work today wasn't such a great idea after all...

"Hey, you should get going," he whispered. "You gotta be there in less than five minutes."

"You know what? Suddenly I'm not feeling to well," you smiled.

Axel perked up, a wide smile spreading from ear to ear. "Is that so? I guess that means you have to stay home then."

"I guess so," you hummed. You gave him another longing kiss before resting your chin on his chest, gazing up at those emerald eyes that made your knees weak.

"In fact I know exactly what will help you feel better," Axel smirked. His fingers started to trail light patterns on your back, giving you chills.

"By all means, 'Doctor'. Give me your diagnosis."
