"C'mon, [Y/N]! Try to keep up!"
Using your weapon to prop yourself up, you struggled to your feet as Axel slowly paced around the training ring, keeping his eyes steadied on you. Sweat dripped down your temples and plastered your hair to your face; you knew it wasn't an attractive look, but you pushed that thought to the back of your head as you charged towards Axel, weapon ready to strike. Axel didn't budge as you came closer, watching you closely before he quickly stepped out of the way behind you. You fell to the ground as he swung his Keyblade low, causing you to trip. Before you landed on your knees Axel took the opportunity to playfully slap your ass. Gritting your teeth, you quickly jumped back up and readied yourself for another round.
"You can do better than that, babe!" Axel winked before running towards you again with his Keyblade raised up for another strike.
That's it. No more playing games.
The two of you ran towards each other, weapons ready. At the last second, you completely threw Axel off guard by discarding your weapon and jump up into the air and landed on his shoulders. Axel barely had a chance to register what was going on before you executed the famous Black Widow takedown, placing his head between your legs and flipping him hard down onto the ground. You landed perfectly on your feet as Axel groaned in pain, rubbing his backside as he struggled to get back up.
Re-summoning your weapon, you stuck your tongue out playfully at Axel. "If you can't take the heat, you can back down. I won't judge you," you teased.
"So that's how it's going to be, huh? Fine, you asked for it!" Axel summoned two fireballs and quickly sent them in your direction. You were so busy deflecting them that you didn't notice Axel transformed his Keyblade into a chakram and hurled it towards you. The first chakram whizzed by your ear, barely missing your face, but the second one caught your left arm and you heard it slice against your skin. You yelped in pain and instantly clutched your arm, the sting of the blade combining with Axel's fire magic brought you to your knees.
"Shit! [Y/N!"
Axel's Keyblade, now restored to its original form, vanished from his hand as he ran towards you. He kneeled down next to you and brought his hands to your arm. The searing pain in your arm seemed to get worse by the second, and it didn't help that Axel's naturally warm body temperature made your cut feel worse when he placed his hand on top.
Quickly retreating back, Axel started to panic. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to actually hit you!" He moved to touch you again, and you instinctively flinched backwards which made you feel guilty despite everything. "I won't touch it, I promise. Let me just see."
You slowly lifted your hand, tears falling down your face. The cut wasn't too deep thankfully and maybe needed a few stitches, but your whole upper arm now felt like it was on fire. "Axel, it really hurts!" You started whimpering as you placed your hand back over the cut to try and stop the bleeding.
"Hang on, I'm going to get some water." Axel got up quickly and ran over to the bench to grab both of your water bottles. He slowly poured the first bottle on your arm, and you felt instant relief as the burning sensation subsided. Once the second bottle was empty, Axel softly wiped off the blood from your arm with your workout towel. "We need to get you stitched up," he said quietly.
"Axel?"
He didn't look up, instead keeping his eyes on your wound to make sure the bleeding stopped. "Let's go find Merlin, he'll bring us to a hospital to get help."
"Axel, look at me," you said firmly.
Axel sighed as he reluctantly brought his eyes up to yours. His eyebrows were furrowed with guilt and you can see tears forming. Your heart broke at the sight.
"Axel, it was an accident. I'm not mad at you, okay? Don't beat yourself up."
"But I really hurt you! You won't even be able to train until your arm is all healed up. I really screwed things up, I don't deserve—".
"Don't you even finish that sentence, Axel!" Axel jumped at your raised voice. "You do too deserve to be a Keyblade wielder. It was an accident. It could have happened to anyone. Honestly, I'm surprised this hasn't happened earlier with my grand track record of being a complete klutz. I was bound to end up hurt at some point." You tried to laugh to help ease Axel, but it didn't seem to work. You raised your good arm and cupped his cheek, bringing his face close to yours before giving him a kiss. "I'm fine, I promise."
Axel pressed his forehead against yours, the tears now falling down his face. "I'm still sorry."
"Say it one more time and I swear I'll take you down with my legs again!"
"Yeah, and where the hell did you learn that, by the way??" Axel chuckled. "My legs went numb for a hot second."
"A move I learned courtesy of Natasha Romanoff, thank you Avengers!" You both laughed for a moment before Axel kissed your temple.
"Okay, Black Widow. Let's get you stitched up," Axel said as he stood up and extended his arm, which you accepted with your good one.
"Aye, aye, Captain," you said and saluted him.
"Really? I think out of everyone I'm more like Iron Man."
"I think we're both wrong, actually."
"Okay, fine, who then?"
"Loki."
Axel stopped in his tracks and thought for a moment. "Yeah, you're right."
