Ahhhhh if only food could always be this good. Everything tastes great, and if I say that, it means it's GOOD. Hey, I just don't elaborate on this stuff this much. Food is great, but it is just another thing of life that we need. I do realize that I just insulted some people, but.... okay food is good. I can not deny it. Sooooo yeah, I didn't really insult anyone with that, right? I hope not... Twi stares at me.
"This. Is. AWESOME!!!" I tell her, grinning. She looks at me in shock.
"I know. Usually, you'd think that hospital food is terrible, but this is actually really good," she adds, taking bite of her garden salad. I nod, grabbing a forkful of the chicken ceasar that I have. Salads are great. For the people that don't like salads, you are missing out. They are just...... you know...... good. I have said that way too many times. Taking a bite of my BLT, I grab the book I was reading and put it back down on the pile. Glancing over at Twi, I can see she's in deep thought.
"Are you thinking about Flash or Rob?" I ask, smiling innocently at her. She just blushes and tries to glare at me. However, we both know that she likes Rob. Flash? I have a hunch that there might be a slight possibility. I don't know.
"Ummm neither?" She asks, trying to sound nonchalant. Yeah, totally not.
"What do you think we're going to do when we get back home?" I ask, trying to come up with possibilities. "My guess is a super crazy party thrown by the one and only party thrower, Peony," I smirk. She does the BEST parties, and since we're her best friends (well, the six of us) I can practically guarantee that this will be one to remember. Call it a hunch.
"Definitely. You can never doubt that," Twi says, raising one eyebrow. At the same time, we look up at the clock, realizing how late it really is. "Wow, I'm going to go to bed. You?"
"Yeah. It's pretty late!" I sigh. Putting my food tray down, I know they'll just put it in the mini fridge we have, courtesy of Peony. It's so we can have 'the leftover food I will bring you'. Let's just say it's kind of filled with cake at the moment, but I'd rather keep the leftovers of the dinner so I can eat it later. Or, rather, tomorrow. Snuggling under my covers, I grab the stuffed pegasus and grin when I see how it's rainbow mane matches my own. "Good night," I say, but I already know she's fast asleep. Closing my eyes, I drift into the dream world.
-----
"Wake up!" Huh? Sitting up with a frown, I see Peony's excited face in front of mine. Wait.... something looks different... No. Nevermind, she just has a big bag of candy. Candy?
"Peony decided to get you a bag of candy to make you feel better," Flit says softly.
"Thanks, Peony!" I say, rubbing my eyes. "But we are getting released today." Her mouth opens in surprise.
"Well, whatever. Keep the candy anyway!" She laughs, pulling me into a hug. Twi is already sorting through her bag. Ooooh let me see what I got! Pulling it open, I catch sight of my favorite candy - Twix. Yes! And there are, like, 50 of them! Soooo good. There are also a bunch of Kit Kats, peanut butter cups, and Skittles. Not to mention M+Ms and random chocolate. Wow!
"Thanks, Peony!" We shout, laughing as she pretends to be shocked at our 'outburst'.
"Ms.Dash, is that how you expect to act around your old grandmother?" Flit says, putting on fake glasses on the edge of her nose and talking in her 'granny' accent. "It is not proper. Agghhh back in my day, girls wore long skirts and didn't have any of these appendages. Wings? Well, those were unfit for public. No one ever heard of such nonsense!" She says, exaggerating with actions and dramatically waving her finger at me. I just snicker under my breath and try to hide a smile. "And what is with this hair? It is not natural! When I was a youngster like you, our hair was long and smooth. Not dyed and choppy!" She adds, flicking my hair over my shoulder. I can't hold it any longer! I burst into laughter, hearing everyone join me. Flit giggles, then composes herself. "Are you laughing at ME, missy?" She shouts, smiling.
"Ummmm maybe?" I ask, shrugging my shoulders. The rest laugh at my response.
"Now then, Dash, I have taught you before the proper way to act. Girls do not talk back. Nor do they dye their hair mutliple colors. And wings should have never existed in the first place!" Flit acts out, pretending to be annoyed with my appearence. Pouting, I pull my wings around myself like a cacoon, trying to make her believe I'm upset. "Ummmm Dash?" Flit asks, softly. She touches my wings. Flinging them out, I hit her on the shoulder and she almost falls, but snaps her wings out to catch herself in time. Snickering, I hide my grin behind my hand.
"Oops! Sorry, Granny!" I say, pretending to be horrified. Just as we all start giggling, the nurse comes in.
"Come on, girls! You are being released today! Now hurry up, and get dressed," she adds, pulling two wheelchairs into the room. Seriously? I can walk FINE. Well, whatever. Rolling my eyes, I grab the clothes laid out for us by Unicity and head into the bathroom. Closing the door, I find that she has brought me a blue t-shirt (with added holes in the back - thanks!) and comfortable light blue pants. Along with that is a jacket matching my wings. Ahhh good thinking. If anyone would see anything, they'd think it's part of the jacket. I unwind the 'stretchy-thing' that I had to keep my wings from being noticed and take it off. Then, I slip on the shirt and slide my wings through the holes provided. I give them a few quick flaps to make sure they're okay - they are - and sigh. It feels like it's been FOREVER since I last flew. Cramped wings are not fun in the least. Flapping so I'm off the ground (hey, it's fun after you haven't been able to do it for the last few days, I unzip the jacket. Landing, I pull it over my wings but don't zip it up. Remember? Matching... Folding up the hospital clothes, I open the door and everyone can see my change. They see me as happier, and I AM. Now my wings are free! Smiling, I place the clothes on the bed and walk over to Twi, who probably just used her magic to change. Lucky her. She turns around, and we hug each other, patting the wings. Both of us are excited to be 'free' again. She flaps hers and I flap mine as we grin at each other.
"Time to go!" Jackie says, pulling me onto the wheelchair. Then, she hands me the pegasus and bag of candy, which I throw into my soccer bag. That goes on my lap.
"Seriously, why do we need to use these? We're FINE!" I protest.
"Here we go again," Unicity sighs, and I launch into reasons why these are not necessary. We are going home!
