Flying Freedom (ON HOLD)

Chapter 30

"Fine, I guess I won't get the book," Twi sighs. We all grin at each other. A job well done, if I say so myself! Preston comes over and wraps his arms around me from behind. Reaching up, I put my hands on his and look up. We just smile at each other.

"Ooooooh....." every giggles, but blushing when their boyfriends come over and do the same. Just as we are about to decide what movie to watch, the lights flicker. We all look up as they flash once and then go out completely. Peony starts shrieking only to be comforted by Adam, who showed up a few minutes ago. She quickly (thank goodness) quiets down, leaving us only in awkward silence.

"Sooooo what should we do now?" I ask to no one in particular. Besides, I can see fine in the dark.

"Let's get some candles," Twi suggests. I nod, standing up and go to grab them from the supply closet.

"Hey, where'd you go, guys?" Peony asks as she tries to stumble over to where Twi, Flit, and I are.

"Can't you see us?" Twi asks, confused.

"Nope, it's pitch black for us," Jackie sighs. We all look at each other as we realize the same thing - it must have come with the wings. After all, you need to be able to see in order to fly in the dark, right?

"Well, then just let us do it," Flit sighs, grabbing four candles. I take the rest so we all have the same amount and we head back to the group. Oops, forgot the matches! Flapping my wings, I fly to the top of the closet and grab it, closing the door when I'm done. I land next to Preston and put them down. Lighting one match, I carefully light one candle and throw the match away. Following suit, Flit and Twi light the the other candles using that one as a starter. Soon, we have a dozen candles lit throughout the room and a few where we can take them with us if we need to go to the bathroom or get something to eat. We were just lucky we had enough. Coming back into the room once the matches are put away, I see that the candles leave an eerie glow on everything. Even Flit's stuffed animals have a certain scary look to them. As we all grab some blankets and pillows, everything seems great.

"BOO!" Someone yells. We all scream, including the boys. Then, we realize it was just Mitch.

"Mitch, what the heck are you doing here?!?" Twi sighs. Mitch, Jerome, and Rob all look at each other. What is going on, here? Rob and Jerome sigh.

"Do you want to go first?" Rob asks Jerome.

"Sure," he replies with a groan. "Jackie, I've known you for a while," he starts.

"Jerome, I already know," Jackie grins, giving him a kiss on the cheek. Then, she goes over to Rob. "Robert Latsky, you sure aren't Jerome, but I'd be proud to be your girlfriend," she adds, blushing as he gives her a hug. Twi looks confused. Then, she looks terrified as Mitch comes over. He kneels down in front of her.

"Twi, I have admired you for a long time. However, the time that you were with Rob was a dark time for me. However, now I actually have a chance. Will you be my girlfriend?" Mitch asks, blushing as he pulls out a rose.

"Awwwww...." We all laugh as Twi blushes and thinks hard for a moment.

"Oh, there's no thinking needed! Of course I will!" She grins and throws her arms around him. Now Unicity is the one without a boyfriend. However, I think she wants it to be that way.

"Well, I am going to go to bed," she says, making an orb of light with her magic. Holding it in front of her, she makes her way upstairs and we all wait until we hear the door closed. Then, all of us girls start squealing and jumping up and down as we talk about our boyriends. The guys are on the other side of the room, leaning against the wall and watching us with the occasional whisper and laugh. Instead of having a conversation among themselves, they just watch, probably listening to everything we say. Luckily for us, I just make my expressions with my wings and not talking too much. Peony, however, talks nonstop and Adam just laughs, making jokes with the boys. Just then, I get an idea.
