When I reach the bottom, Bolt comes over, handing me a package. Grinning, I take it and hand it over to Twi, who made a list of who brought presents. She also just put it on the table along with the gift. Ha, this us like my birthday all over again! December 18th is exactly one week away from Christmas, although it stinks because you can't do anything outside. Unless you count endless snowball fights and cross-country skiing, winter is quite boring. Also, I NEVER get my birthday off of school. It needs to be the next week, when Christmas is. Even if it is a Friday... nope. I guess I am just that awesome. I must have been smiling, because Jackie waves her hand in front of my face.
"Earth to Dash?" She asks, snapping her fingers. Huh? I must have been daydreaming.
"Sorry!" I laugh, thanking Bolt and giving him a hug. That reminds me of a day I never told my friends about. It was the end of the year, and evereyone had been outside for the 'school celebration'. His advisory was about to go do tug-of-war against another. Here's what happened -
"They were pretty good last time," he said, looking a little worried. Awww... poor guy!
"I think you'll beat them," I hesidently say.
"I dont know."
"You'll be fine," I add, and, before I could stop myself, I put my arms around him. It, honestly, felt like I had accomplished something, like winning a soccer tournament against the highest ranked team. Of course, then I let go. He went out, and grabbed hold of the rope. I never told that to ANYONE. Oh, and his advisory lost. Oops. Good thing I didn't say it out loud... right? You know, maybe I have a chance with him. He never knew about my wings, so it won't be very awkward like with Preston. Of course, Bolt also has a girlfriend. Yeah, not going to happen anytime soon. At least Peony is happy. I heard from her on Wednesday that the person she liked actually likes her back and now she has a boyfriend. Unicity could definitely have one but she likes to keep the boys wanting her. By doing that, I mean she is playing hard to get. A LOT. I didn't even notice I was daydreaming again until Preston comes over and gives me a hug. I want things to be like like how they were! As I hug him back, I think of tghr good times we spent that he now doesn't even remember. At least Jackie and Jerome can make things work. Heh, JJ! She would probably kill me if she knew I heard them talking about going on a date.
"Hi, Preston," I sigh, leaning into him. Bolt can have his girlfriend - I just need Preston. He is my perfect other half. Cacti always stick together, am I right? Stepping back, I can see that Preston noticed something 'different' about me. Probably the makeover.
"Can I talk to you for a second?" He asks, looking at the others. Ummm....
"Sure," I reply, and he pulls me upstairs into my bedroom. Closing the door, he turns around.
"Dash, I remember you have wings," he says, looking at me. My mouth drops open in shock, and soon the only thing I am feeling is the surge of sheer bliss as his lips collide with mine. (A/N Christina, this is for you...)Leaning into him, he pushes me against the wall. Pulling back, I stare into his eyes.
"But - but, HOW?!?" I ask, catching my breath. He just stares back, and soon we are kissing again. Moving in synch, he pulls me over to the bed, where I sit on the edge. (A/N Christina, I'm not THAT bad. Don't get that thought into your head!) Preston sits down next to me and pulls me into his lap. Wrapping my arms around him, I hug him just as the door slams open. I immediately shoot into the air, knocking Preston over as I do so. Turning around, I see Jackie with a shocked look on her face.
