Flying Freedom (ON HOLD)

Chapter 54

I throw my towel and stuff onto a chair, but then stop to look outside. Snow is falling softly and the lights make it sparkle like fairy dust. It's so beautiful! I stand there, staring for a few minutes, before getting pulled back into reality by a monofin hitting my shoulder lightly.

"Come ooonnnn!" Twi giggles, pointing to Flit. Flit is currently swimming around with her wings out behind her. She almost looks like she's wearing a cape. Laughing, I pull my tail over the monofin and adjust the corners to fit better. Once that's on, I realize that I accidentally put it on backwards. Giving off a very exaggerated sigh, I take it off it and flip it around to put it on the right way. Twi laughs at my mistake while diving into the water and coming up with a smirk.

"Hey, I TRIED..." I grin and walk over to the edge pool near the 12 foot area. Flit swims over and waits patiently while I shove my feet into the fin. Seriously, it looks so easy, but getting the second foot in is HARD. Once I finally pull the tail up, I push off of the edge and dive into the pool. I sink all the way to to bottom and look up at the water above me before swimming to the surface and looking around. Twi snaps her fingers and makes a bunch of floaties appear, even a few floating tables. It's literally PERFECT for mermaid cafe!!! The door opens and the rest of the girls walk in. Upon seeing the scene, they squeal and throw their stuff I got the closest chair (they all happened to pick the same one) and jump into the pool. Unicity takes the lounge chair and lays back on it in a fashionable pose while Peony takes one of the ring floaties. Jackie sits on a chair and pretends to look over a menu before kicking her feet in the water (it's how you signal the waiters). Flit swims over with a pretend notepad and writes down everything Jackie wants, which is seaweed pie and a kelp smoothie. Unicity kicks her legs and Twi is currently busy, so I swim over to her.

"Welcome to DipCorIre Cafe! How may I help you today?" I ask with a polite smile.

"Why, DARLING, I'd absolutely love to have your finest kelp salad, please! Oh, and be a dear and get me an extra-salt water!" She grins. I nod.

"Will that be all for now?" I ask, and she nods. "Your food will be ready shortly, miss." I swim over to the edge of the pool, where Twi has set up some inflated cooking utensils. I grab a bowl and pretend to mix the salad together, adding a little bit of dressing along the way. Once I feel I'm satisfied with the empty bowl in front of me, I swim back over to Unicity and hand it to her along with a cup.

"Thank you!" She grins, flipping her hair over her shoulder. I nod and swim back to the kitchen. When I'm almost there, I hear splashing behind me. Groaning, I swim over to Peony, who currently has 3 plates, 2 bowls, and 6 cups of stuff. Um... I guess there's no end to what you can order, but still...

"Can I have a refill on everything?" She squeals. Sighing, I nod and go back to the kitchen for the 3rd time.  Flit is currently there making... soup... or something like that. Since we aren't actually cooking anything, it's hard to tell exactly what she's doing.

"Ummm... What exactly did Peony order?" I ask hesitantly.

"Oh, a salad, soup, sandwiches, lemonade, milk, salt water, regular water, juice..." She trails off. "Yeah, just give her whatever and pretend you know what it is." I groan and swim over to the pots. Pretending to mix, dry, cook, etc, I grab as many dishes as I can and push them across the pool to Peony.

"The rest will be out in a few minutes," I grin as she explodes a tiny confetti popper. Luckily, Twi uses her magic to catch it before it gets into the water, so luckily we won't have confetti in our hair for the rest of the night. It disappears as Peony pouts.

"The water would've been so pretty, though!" She whines. Snickering, I bow and return to grab the rest of her food. I then see Flit using one of the bowls I had already put stuff in.
