Hongo Masamune

ok so i know the last one was also hongo but this idea just hit me and its gonna be short so i thought why not

the bus was crowded. very crowded. there were no open seats, every single handle was taken and people were hanging on for dear life to the poles.

although (y/n), in all her glory, wasn't.

she was too shy to get closer to someone she didn't know so she could hold on to something. it didn't help that she wasn't from around here.

she was in Tokyo. by herself. not at all like the small town she grew up in in Australia. she barely spoke Japanese, yet she thought that this would be a relaxing trip.

so, (y/n) was just chilling there, holding onto the straps of her backpack tightly as the bus swayed from side to side. she was lucky, with the amount of people on the bus, that she could see out the window.

although some corners were tight. it was like when a school bus goes around a corner, you feel like it's gonna hit the car sitting there at the light.

so when there's tight corners, sometimes people get knocked off balance. and not to be cliche or anything, but when they went around this one corner, (y/n) kinda fell backwards into the arms of a stranger with a surprisingly firm chest.

she hurriedly turned around, and- oh this is definitely a cliche, but- her breath was swept away by the intense blue eyes that stared down at her. she was left breathless.

(y/n) managed to stutter out an, "i'm sorry" in extremely rough Japanese as she turned back around and looked at her feet.

but again, at the next corner, she unconsciously leaned backwards into the man so she didn't fall sideways onto the couple in the seats. and again, she stuttered out an apology before looking out the window to the side.

and the man on the billboard looked awfully familiar. he had an intense look on his face, a baseball cap on and the number 10 beside him.

out of the corner of her eyes, the man behind her had the same blue eyes and dark hair as the man on the billboard.

(y/n) looked back at the billboard and thankfully saw some english text.

"Hongo Masamune makes a splash in the national baseball league!"

oh shit. she was standing in front of a national level baseball player.

so, she turned to him once again. she didn't have a clear plan in mind as she barely spoke Japanese, but she just stared at him for a while.

he stared back too. neither said anything and neither looked away. just, stared.

until he rolled his eyes and looked out the window.

(y/n) narrowed her eyes at him, and all of a sudden the bus took a sharp turn at the most bumpy-est corner ever known to man.

she face planted into his chest. just like that. he grunted in surprise, but an arm reached out to steady her to make sure she didn't fall.

when the bus was around the corner and was heading straight again, she finally lifted her head so she could meet his eyes.

and to her surprise, he was blushing.

(y/n) smiled nervously, stuttering out her third apology to this man. he didn't say anything. again.

(y/n) finally worked up the courage to speak an almost proper sentence.

"hello," she said. "i am. . very sorry about, uh, falling onto you."

he grunted in reply, muttering something in Japanese that she didn't catch.

"um." (y/n) opened her mouth to talk more, but she closed it when she realized she didn't know what to say. what do you do with a stranger whom you've fallen into multiple times when you have limited knowledge in their language?

you speak yours.

"i'm very sorry for bumping into you, this bus is really unstable. uh, so you play baseball, huh? that's cool. i thought coming here would be a good idea but i barely speak Japanese and i definitely don't read it. once again very sorry i will try to not let it happen again."

he looked down at (y/n) suspiciously, blinked before opening his mouth. she waited with baited breath.

"it is okay," he said in somewhat fluent english. "don't worry."

her mouth dropped open, but she snapped it closed a second after.

"that's. . good." she reverted back to her shitty Japanese for whatever reason. he spoke english, she just didn't know what she was doing.

and, without another word, the bus stopped and he stepped off onto the sidewalk without even a goodbye.
