"i've been alone for so long, i'm afraid i don't know what it's like to not be."third person following (y/n)
that's what she thought. then she met Miyuki, and she got roped into his friend group and soon she was almost never alone.
it took a lot of getting used to. she didn't really know how to act with friends. did she laugh at all their jokes, even if they weren't funny? did she call them out on unfunny jokes? did she wrestle with them when Kuramochi was picking on someone? did she join them all in Miyuki's dorm? was she wanted or even invited to go places with them?
the answer to most of those questions was yes (you do not laugh at the unfunny jokes if they really weren't funny just to make them feel good. she learned very quickly if you sugarcoat things too much that's very bad, depending on the person. she only really sugarcoated things with Nori and Eijun, because she would literally die if she saw either of them sad).
soon enough, she was laughing and joking and wrestling with them daily. like she had been friends with them since their first year. like she was meant to be there. and she was.
but she broke one of the rules she set for herself. don't fall in love with any of your friends. she didn't really think about love that much. of course, she loved all her friends platonically, but she never thought it would go further. the boys were nice, sure. nice and generous and funny and oh-so-cute sometimes, but she didn't want to fall in love with any of them. because that could quite possibly be the end of their friendship.
and of course, it had to be one of the most obnoxious people on the planet she fell in love with. it couldn't have been Nori, with his sweet and quiet nature. it couldn't have been reliable Shirasu or even the troublesome yet hilarious Kuramochi.
it had to be Miyuki Kazuya, who almost never failed to get under her skin.
now, (y/n) was never really a crybaby. she didn't cry when she sprained her ankle, or when her dad had to take the biggest splinter ever out of her toe. the last time she cried a lot was when she was twelve and her beloved grandmother passed away.
(y/n) thought she could handle Miyuki's teasing. she thought it would be a breeze getting him to shut up when she had had enough. but boy was she wrong. once Miyuki saw you as one of the boys, it was very difficult to get away from his relentless teasing.
it had started out as a plain joke about the singular pimple on Kuramochi's face. but it had escalated quickly, and soon Miyuki was focusing on (y/n), who knew she had an endless amount of acne on her face.
"yeah, but look at (y/n)! her pimples are definitely not lonely!"
ouch.
"haha, not all of us can have perfect skin, can we Miyuki?" (y/n) asked, visibly unhappy.
true to her words, Miyuki's skin was flawless. it had no blemishes and no acne. what a lucky guy.
"well, i guess my skin is quite perfect. isn't it, (y/n)?" Miyuki asked, leaning in close to her face so she could have a good look at all the imperfections he didn't have. "oh, i better back up. i dont want to catch a pimple!"
