"And another funeral" Eudora noted as she sat beside her aunt Acacia on the grass of Allegra manor. They both wore black and their faces were solemn even under the slight glittering of afternoon sun on the lake in the distance. It was cold, the air crisp and their breath fanning in a cloud. It was times like this that Allegra manor would once have been home to blazing fires in every hearth, glowing yellow in the bright white rooms. It was homely here then, thick blankets and fluffy socks adorned. If only now it held the same comfort, when the world was all black and white opposed to the gold and brown of warmth it had once been.

"We shall prevail" Acacia noted, sipping away at her drink absentmindedly. It was a strong liquor, the aroma positively foul but Eudora was in no position to judge the women who had also lost it all. If Acacia felt anywhere similar to the way Eudora felt, the guzzling of the alcohol was warranted.

"I want to rebuild this place" Eudora informed, gesturing vaguely behind her unnecessarily. Acacia rose a perfectly plucked brow in slight confusion.

"Really?"

"Why wouldn't I? This is where all my happy memories live. It was all downhill after that" she sighed, looking at her scarred palms, the shapes of randomly carved symbols ever present in her once flawless skin.

"But all that pain started here" Acacia mentioned.

"I can't help but find this place beautiful, even burnt and crumbling. It holds a place in my heart. Do you not feel it? When you remember running the halls as a child, learning the piano in the ballroom and reading in the library even though you were too small to even hold up any of the books" Eudora giggled in fond memory of the times spent within the walls. It only it was possible to return to the happier moments, when all was happy and content.

"I know why you want to rebuild it Eudora. I do to. I just figured.... I felt it was your moms decision to make, her being the one who had inherited it." Acacia shrugged, still lost in silent remembrance.

"This Is much your home as hers. Maybe even more so now" Eudora smiled.

"I'll look into it." Acacia promised, her eyes glittering under the weight of that promise though she knew her aunt would follow through. The woman was fearless, courageous and strong. Eudora could not wait until the day that Acacia met the one to which she would spend her life. She knew Acacia was not one to have children but the Allegra aunt always favoured the lavish life and hopefully, inevitably, that is what she would achieve.

"What are you going to do about Stefan?" The older woman finally questioned and her younger counterpart sighed, looking down at her hands, remembering the fierce scar in his name across her shoulders.

"What can I do?" she wondered, truly hoping for a feasible response. "He has made his choice time and time again, I'm not in any position to sway his opinion"

"So you are going to be Eidothea?" Acacia rose an eyebrow. "I don't see that from you."

"I don't see how I have any other choice. We kissed, he knew the attraction and he still chose her. I can't physically be selfish with him, I would rip myself apart just to allow him some semblance of happiness." she frowned.
