Your POV

You woke up with a pretty bad hangover.

You decided to shower before you made your way to the GCPD to tell Jim you were back.

The water was relaxing, and helped to sooth your pounding headache. And it was nice to use your own soap again.

Not that the shower you used back when you were with Jerome was bad, it was actually quiet nice. But a shower when you're free and don't exactly have to worry about a psychopath bursting in at any moment was nice.

You finished up and put on leggings and a sweatshirt with Gotham High plastered on the front, and you slipped on a pair of f/c crocs.

You searched your cupboards until you found a half empty box of granola bars.

"Thank God I still have these." You shoved one in your hoodie pocket and gulped down some Ibuprofen. Ready to take on the day.

You got out to your car and found a note on the drivers seat.

Y/n, I thought about just giving you your lighter back, but I figured you might not want the same one that burned all your friends alive, so me and Barbra took the liberty of getting you a new one. Stay out of trouble kid.
~Tabatha

You looked at the the seat again, underneath the note was a small black lighter with the Wayne family crest engraved onto one side.

You turned the lighter over in your hand smiling to yourself. "That woman's got a soft spot." You shook your head softly laughing to yourself as you got in the car.

You decided to go talk to Bruce first.

Time skip

You pulled into the main driveway outside the Manor.

You took a deep breath before knocking.

About a minute went by before Alfred opened the door.

"Oh my God." He said in shock.

"Alfred? Who's at the door?" Bruce came into view and dropped the cup he was holding, letting it shatter on the ground. "Y/n?" He said softly.

"Hey Brucie." You let a tear fall down your cheek as he ran to you wrapping you in a tight hug.

"Oh my God where have you been?" He said afraid to let go of you.

"That's a long story." Tears started to fall down your face harder now.

Time skip

You explained everything to Bruce and Alfred, about Jerome, and Tabatha helping you with your leg, and Barbra helping you escape.

"I need to go talk to Jim." You stood up.

"But y/n, you just got back." Bruce said, hoping you would stay a bit longer.

"I know, but I'm still technically a missing person, and I think Jim might like to know I'm back." You said giving him a weak smile.

"Will you be back for dinner?" Alfred asked standing up from his chair.

"No." You said shaking your head. "I've got some people to talk to, let them know I'm back." You took a breath. "But I'll stop by for breakfast tomorrow." You gave Alfred a bright smile. "I'm hoping for those award winning waffles."

Time skip

You made your way up the steps of the GCPD, and inside was utter chaos.

Eventually you spotted Jim at his desk.

"JIM!" You yelled from a few feet away to get his attention.

He looked up from his work, his eyes going wide. "Oh my God, y/n?!" He stood up and hurried over to you. "Where the Hell have you been?! We've been looking everywhere for you, and Bruce is worried sick."

You cut him off. "I went and saw Bruce this morning, he and Alfred know I'm back."

"Okay, well I need to take you in for questioning, like now."

You followed him to one of the interrogation rooms, as soon as he shut the door behind you all the noise from the main room was shut out.

"What the Hell happened?" He sounded disappointed. "Please, just." He pinched the bridge of his nose. "Just start from the beginning."

Time skip

"So you're telling me. That Barbra Kean. The woman who broke out of Archam Asylum. Helped you escape.

"Yeah, she lived in the apartment above me, and we became friends I guess. But she told me her boss wanted me to leave."

"I see, and did they ever do anything to indicate who their boss might have been? Maybe Jerome let something slip out."

"Like I said before, no, the room I was in didn't even have a window, and the only time I left that damn room was when Barbra helped me to escape, but even then there was a bag on my head." He nodded.

Time skip

You parked in the ally of Fish's club, but something seemed off.

As you walked in there wasn't anybody except an old woman singing and Oswald sitting listening.

"Hey Ossie, where's fish?" You asked coming up behind him.

"Oh, you haven't heard?" He was far too smug. "She's dead."

"She's fucking what?!" You snapped.

"Oh come on y/n, you knew it was coming sooner or later." He had a tight smile plastered on his face.

"How?" You took a sharp breath, doing your best to conceal your anger. "How did she die?"

He turned in his chair to face you. "She left Gotham, on a boat. It was taken over. By who I don't know. But I'm glad they did it."

You closed your eyes to prevent the tears from starting again and nodded.

"Listen y/n, I like you. You've always been a good friend to me. So you have nothing to fear." He sounded sincere, but you were never scared of him to begin with.

Butch came out of the back room holding a fancy bottle.

"We got it boss." He said, he hadn't noticed you yet.

"YOU TOOK BUTCH?!" You screamed grabbing on to Oswalds collar.

Butch pulled you off. "It's alright y/n." He said doing his best to calm you down.

Oswald straightened his shirt again. "Yes, he's loyal to me now."

"Loyal my ass." You turned to Butch. "Come on, what happened?" You spoke softly.

"Penguins boss now." His words seemed strained. And you let a small tear fall down your face.

"So he is." You whispered.

"Well!" Oswald clapped. "Now that we have that settled. Miss. Wayne, would you like a drink?"

"Sorry Ossie, I gotta go." You looked at him through the corner of your eye. "I've got other people to see." You shrugged your shoulders. "Ya know, let em know I didn't burn alive and what not." With that you turned on your heels and left.
