Today was one of the best days of my life

Today was one of the best days of my life. I couldn't be happier. I looked around and saw the same happiness on everyone's faces. The happiness of starting a new journey and stepping into the future.

I looked beside me and smiled at my best friends who were busy clicking photographs with their families. There was still time for the event, so everyone was busy capturing these precious moments with their friends and loved ones throughout the whole campus.

"Reyna! Come here." Keerti motioned with her hands and called me over.

"Get here you lazy ass." Upasana pulled me with my hand and Keerti told us to pout.

She clicked the selfie and checked it. She glared at me when she found out that I didn't pout. She pinched my cheeks and clicked the photo again. I was not photogenic like them. I looked like a potato no matter from whichever angle you clicked me.

"Where is uncle and aunty? It is your most important day and they are still not here?" Keerti complained and I shrugged my shoulders.

"Who cares?" I replied.

It was not like this was the first time they had stood me up. I doubted if they even knew that today was my graduation ceremony. They were always too busy for me.

"Didi!" I turned around when I heard Arman's voice.

(Didi :- A respectable term used for older sisters.)

He ran and hugged me tightly. I lost my balance but fortunately didn't fall down. If something had happened to my gown, I would have killed him.

"Congratulations! You are a graduate now. Finally." He smiled at me after he left me.

"Mom and dad?" I asked.

"They will be a little late," he said and tried to cheer me up.

I knew he was lying so that I didn't feel down but what was the use? I knew they wouldn't come. I had zero expectations from dad but mom also disappointed me.

I masked my sad mood and thanked him for coming. He was the only one who cared for me. He was younger than me but he always acted like he was older. He congratulated Keerti and Upasana and they pulled him in a group hug.

They loved him like their own brother. Everyone loved him. Mom and dad too.

"Let's go guys, the ceremony is going to start soon," Upasana announced and we all got excited.

She was the valedictorian and I was really proud of her. She was the type of student who would fool around a lot but still get the highest marks in the class. Keerti and I would tease her about that and she would just wave us off.

We all followed her in the auditorium and took our designated seats. Our family members sat in the backside and Arman waved at me once he got seated. He had promised me that he would click the best pictures and cheer for me when I would go on the stage.
