Summary: You have lived in Ireland your whole life but you decided you need a fresh start and move to America, Charming California to be exact. You understand English and speak it but it's broken and you catch the attention of a certain Scottie.

I wanted a fresh start and decided to move to America, now don't get me wrong I loved living in Ireland but I wanted to leave.

" Cén fáth ar mhaith leat imeacht?" My mom asked me one day I had told her I wanted to go to America and live the American dream.

" Ba mhaith liom an aisling Mheiriceánach a chaitheamh." I told her

" Tá tú ró-óg." She said

" Níl mé ró-óg." I said to her

We went back and forth about how I was hurting her heart by leaving her and my dad. I was their last child to leave home and it was hard on them but I wanted to get out and spread my wings. I had saved up money for my flight, passport and anything else I needed to have to visit America and possibly to live.

I packed my bags and was off to the airport for my long trip to America. It was going to be ten hours and thirty minutes to get to California, that is where I decided to go, Hollywood, the Ocean, the mountains I wanted to see it all. We landed in Las Angeles and I went on several tours of the City.

Now here is the problem I don't speak English not well, I understand it but my English is broken so it makes it hard to ask for directions.

" Cá bhfuil an leithreas?" I asked while I was touring Hollywood and they looked at me weird and I thought for a second.

" The jacks?" Again nothing

" The toilet?" They understood that and pointed the way.

I rented a car and traveled out of Los Angeles and it was nice, the mountains, the hills, I was home sick but the weather was a lot nicer here then home because it seemed like it was always raining or cloudy but here it was nice and sunny. I was driving for a while and decided to stop and pull over to eat.

I had just crossed a sign welcoming me to Charming and saw a restaurant, I pulled over and got out. It was a nice looking diner and went in to eat. The lady asked me how many and said just me. She seated me at a table and got me a water until I was ready to order, I had no clue what to get.

" I suggest the meatloaf." Amy said as I read her name tag.

" Thanks." I told her

My order came and she was right it was good, I ate then paid for my food. I left and traveled some more but needed to find a room soon because I was getting  tired, I saw a decent looking hotel and pulled in and got a room for the night.

The next day I was off and explored more of the town and as I was walking I saw a garage and decided to see if they needed help, I had decided to move to America and needed money to make it. I am a fast learner and maybe I could help. I did work on cars with my brother Mikey.

" Ag lorg oibre." I said to to the lady at the desk

" I'm sorry sweetie what did you ask me?"

" She is looking for work Gemma." Said a man with a Scottish Accent.

" Oh yes as a matter of fact I am, you have experience?" She asked

" Yes, I have as you say experience." I told her

" Do you speak English?" She asked

" A wee bit, no a lot."

" It's ok lassie I will be your translator, names Chibs love." He was so handsome and was loving his scars.

" Names Shelly, nice to meet you Chibs."

The nice lady introduce herself as Gemma and showed me around the shop, I picked up on it quick. I had grown close to the guys, especially Chibs. He was helping me study for my citizenship test because I decided to become an American and as we were doing that I was falling for the man with the Glasgow Smile.

Only problem I was having was the age difference I was twenty and he had to be in his thirty's. Now I didn't see the problem my dad was older than my mom but he might see a problem.

" Hey Chibs you have a thing for Shelly?"

" What are you daff Tig she is too young for me."

" I don't man she been ignoring all of the guys but you so I don't know man I think she likes you as well."

" I don't know brotha' she is to pure for this life."

" She is corrupted like the rest of us, she drinks like us, cusses like us. She fits right in now."

Chibs thought about it and has noticed how you would ignore the other guys who were her age. He loved your hour glass figure, your brown hair and brown eyes. He had fallen for you and was worried about the age gap.

" Hoy Earth to Chibs."

" Sorry love just thinking that's all."

" I was asking if you would go with me to my test?"

" Of course love and will be there when you get sworn in too."

We had been studying hard to pass this test and I was hoping I would pass it, Chibs had confidence but not me. I was worried because if I didn't pass I had to wait and retest, we had studied hard and didn't want to disappoint him.

" You will pass the test and when you do we will celebrate ok love."

" Ok Chibs."

The whole club had my back and was waiting for me to pass and was throwing my a party for when I pass. I was nervous to say the least, I had to write, speak and understand English. I took the test and then had to wait for the interview.

I passed the test and the party was huge, liquor flowing, Chibs not leaving my side.

" What's next love?"

" The interview and then I get sworn in."

" You got this love."

" Thanks to you Chibs." I kissed him on his cheek and he reciprocated.

" I love you Chibs and have for a long time and I know I am young but I don..."

He cut me off with a kiss

" I love you too Shelly."

I eventually got my interview and passed. Went to get sworn in and was so happy and they threw me another party. Chibs made me his Old Lady and I couldn't be any happier, see I was glad I moved here to get a change in scenery. He taught me to speak English better and helped me become an US Citizen and for that I will be forever grateful.
