A titan came stumbling towards the Survey Corps from the front of the formation. The people beside Erwin started panicking, but he stayed calm. He ordered the people at the front of the vanguard to shoot flares. The whole formation split so there was a giant gap in the middle, and the titan still walked forward through the gap. Erwin ordered his group to stay on their horses, he would take care of this one.

Erwin had forgotten the exhilarating feeling of killing a titan, the way the wind would rush by your ears, the sound of your blood pumping fast, and the feeling of flying. He loved it. It was a kind of drug for him.

It had been a while since Erwin had killed one, so he thought he'd play with it first. Immature for the Commander of the scouts, but he needed to do it. It was an impulse.

Erwin shot his hooks into the titan and shot forward towards it. He swung around the back and landed on it's shoulder. That's when his whole body stopped working. His heart skipped a beat and his body froze. The titan, fell to the ground eventhough not one blade had touched it.

Erwin saw something, he didn't know what it was... or who it was.

There were cries, and there was an infant in a woman's arms.

"Isn't she beautiful?" Her husband smiled.

"Yes."

"Let's name her Y/n."

"Perfect."

Then there was a girl, carrying books to school. She was wearing a special arm band. A boy came by, one who wasn't wearing the arm band and he punched and spit on her, but she didn't say a word.

Then he saw a young woman with a mask on, presumably the same girl from the past images.

"We need to find a more discreet place to hold meetings."

"We don't need a repeat of last time."

Now the young woman was sitting on a wooden chair, shackled to it. She had a blindfold on and she was bleeding.

"No more. Please no more."

"Tell us who the new rat is and we'll let you go."

"I don't know. I swear I don't know."

"Stop playing with me or else I'll have to break your other fingers." The woman shook her head, afraid.

The next memory came, and this time, the woman was crying. A man forced her down on her knees and smiled.

"NO! Please don't!" A man injected something into this woman and kicked her off a large wall. The man chuckled darkly.

"Disgusting. If you people learned your place, this would never happen. Although, I'm happy it does, I wouldn't have so much fun if there weren't disobediant rats like you." There was a flash of light, and the woman turned into a titan.

Erwin saw the titan wondering the lands mindlessly like it was in a never ending nightmare.

Then Erwin saw the titan right in front of himself. The titan was here. Right now.

Erwin gasped, being brought out of the memories like he just resurfaced out of water. He opened his eyes and got off the back of the titan. Somehow, he wasn't afraid of it. He'd just seen it's entire life, it's pain, it's love, and he was about to see it's fate.

He walked towards the front of the titan and looked into it's eyes. It seemed to look back at him. It's eyes watered, it was crying, it had seen his entire life as one whole flashback as well. The titan lowered down to his level and Erwin put his hand out and placed it on it's forehead affectionately.

"Y/n." He whispered. The titan smiled and nodded.

"Erwin! Get out of there!!" Levi came swooping in on his ODM gear and cut the nape of the titan in front of his Commander. Erwin's eyes widened.

"NO!" Erwin saw the titan's eyes go dull and lose it's light. He ran onto the back of the titan to see the injury on it's nape. The cut was so deep and wide, the titan was definitely dead. Steam started to hiss and come up from the wound. The titan was evaporating. It was gone. She was gone. Y/n, was gone. Erwin's soulmate was gone.

Erwin stood staring at the evaporating body. She had come and gone so fast. It was unfair. Everyone else had been blessed to have found their soulmates, but his was already gone. Hanji and Moblit, Nile and Marie, Ymir and Christa, Bertholdt and Reiner, Eren and Mikasa, but of course, life laughed at him in the face. He cursed the universe that his soulmate was a titan.

Hanji brought Erwin his horse and he got on it. Taking one last look at his evaporating soulmate, he rode on, vowing to never forget his love.
