Chapter 10
CHRISTIAN
"Umm... I was just asking if..." she started to say.
I waited for Lissa to say whatever had brought her back. She seemed to take forever to speak and I was about to say something when she spoke up.
"I wanted to know if maybe you wanted to - I don't know - hang out?" She asked.
I felt a smile creep onto my face as she said the words. Lissa wanted to be friends with me? I was finally having a friend? This was way better than knowing that aunt Tasha was coming for christmas (okay maybe not.) It was close.
"Umm, yeah sure, if you want to," I casually said. She smiled at me and was about to walk away when she remembered something else.
"Oh, and please promise me you will not tell any of your friends about the whole me drinking Rose's blood thing," she looked stern but I just couldn't help but laugh.
Lissa looked at me in confusion, wondering what was so funny about what she had just said. "What's so funny?" She asked. I continued to laugh and I could see that it was starting to irritate her. I stopped laughing and waited a few seconds to catch my breath before I spoke.
"Sorry but I just couldn't help myself," I said to her, chuckling lightly. I wiped a tear from my eye as memories of my child hood started to creep their way into my mind. I shook my head, wanting to forget everything. This wasn't the time to start to having flashbacks. I didn't want to remember those moments anyway.
"Christian, are you okay?" I heard Lissa ask in a gentle voice. I felt her warm hands rest on my shoulders and I turned to look at her. She had a look of concern and I couldn't help but wonder why. Why was she so concerned about me? Did someone pay her? Did the headmistress send her to make sure I wasn't going to turn Strigoi? It wouldn't be the first time she did that.
No, I don't think headmistress Kirova would risk the last Dragomir in line. As I continued to look at Lissa, I felt her wipe away a tear and ask me again if I was okay. I cleared my throat and stepped away from her.
"Yeah I'm fine," I lied, "it's just that, you mentioned friends and I wouldn't know what a 'friend' is because I've never had one. Unless you count my aunt Tasha, then maybe I have." She gave me a look of sympathy and gave me a hug. Okay seriously, why is she being so nice?
After a few moments, I decided to return the hug. We stayed like that for a few more minutes before we let go of eachother. I was going to treasure this moment for as long as I shall live.
"I guess we should start heading to our dorms now," I spoke up after a moment of silence.
"Umm, yeah," she agreed.
"Oh and I promise not to tell," I said. She smiled at me and I smiled back.

{Next day} {A couple of hours after the fox incident}
It was a beautiful day today. I woke up with a smile on my face and the moonlight was shinning through the window. Today was the first ever day I actually woke up looking forward to.
Yesterday I had made a friend and for now that was good enough. I didn't care that Lissa didn't have any feelings for me. The fact that she was even willing to be my friend was enough. I got up and rushed to the bathroom. I took a quick warm shower and brushed my teeth. I put on an outfit from my closet and rushed out the door.
I don't know why I was rushing because I had atleast 2 hours before class even started. As I walked down the corridors, I saw no one. I decided to go feed before heading to the cafeteria. The line won't be long this early. As I got there, I got arranged to go to Norrine as she was free.
Norrine was such a strange old woman. She had ways with words and although she seemed to want to make people undertsand, all she mananged to be able to do was confuse them even more. Despite her wacky ways, I still loved her. I always asked for her whenever I was to come here because she was nice and she was the only person I actually spoke to.
As I approached her, I saw her smile spread. I don't know whether she was happy because she saw me or because she about to be fed from. I smiled back as I neared her and sat in the allocated chair.
"Hi, darling," she said.
"Hi," I said back. She sat up straight; I was about to feed when I looked up to her and saw her having that far away look. That was strange. Usually when I'm about to feed she would always sit up straight and have a goofy smile on her face.
"Great danger is approaching," I heard her mutter under her breath.
"What?" I quickly asked. Norrine snapped her head towards me and gave me a look that scared me shitless.
"I see a future with danger. A future where no one is safe. You are in great danger," she warned. I was now completely frightened that even my thirst had gone. I stood up, smiled at her and left the room.
Suddenly my mood was ruined. I don't know why I was taking a mad woman's words so seriously. She's probably just lying. This wouldn't be the first she's said those words. No matter how much I wanted to believe those words were not true, something in me told me that they were.
