Chapter 9

MASON

"So, what do you want to learn now?" I asked her, "Maths or English?" Rose looked at me completely bored.

"You know I only agreed to do this because I thought you'd be more fun?" She said, "but I guess I was wrong." I felt hurt by her comment but I couldn't show it. I was supposed to be her friend and Guardian Belikov had told me earlier not to let her off the hook easily.

"Maths it is," I said in feigned excitement. I may be good at maths, but I don't love it. Some of the equations and sums that people wrote don't even make sense. I mean who decided that Pi had to be involved in maths? Were they hungry when they wrote that or?

"What time is it?" Rose asked, getting me out of my confusing mind. I checked my watch and I saw that it was a couple of minutes before curfew.

"Four minutes before we have to head back to our dorms," I told her. Relief seemed to appear on her features and I couldn't help but wonder why. I didn't ask her though, the last thing I needed was for her to feel like I was intruding in her personal life. I started to get into the basics of maths, when my phone beeped. It was time to start heading back to our dorms and I couldn't help but feel relieved.

I couldn't stand sitting here another minute with Rose. My emotions were running wild and all I seemed to manage was increase my feelings for her.

"Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow in class," I said to Rose before departing from her. I was nearing the corner when I heard her call out to me.

"Hey, Mase?" She called out. I stopped walking and turned around. She walked towards me and when she reached where I was standing, she smiled and gave me a warm friendly hug.

"Thanks," I heard her whisper. She let go and walked away, away from me.

"What's up with the goofy smile? " I heard Eddie ask as soon as I had walked into my dorm room. I just kept on smiling as I walked over to my bedside table and put my books on it. I fell onto my bed and sighed. It wasn't a sad sigh, it was more like a happy one.

"And I repeat, what's up with the goofy smile?" Eddie said louder. I sat up and looked at him. He was sitting on his bed with a novel in his hand.

I know, Eddie reading? Yeah many people wouldn't believe it either, even if I had evidence. Eddie just never appeared to be the type who read books and enjoyed studying, then again, neither did I.

"Are you going to tell me or do I need to guess myself?" Eddie raised an eyebrow. He sat on his bed waiting for me to explain but after a few minutes of silence, he decided that I wasn't going to give out any information.

"Rose kissed you," he started to guess. I shook my head as to say no. He went back to thinking.

"She confessed her love to you," he continued to guess. I shook my head again. He sighed and went back to thinking. A second later, he came up with another suggestion but I shook my head. He continued to guess for the next half hour but wasn't even anywhere near the real event.

"Okay I give up," he finally said, "what happened?" I smiled at remembering what had occured earlier.

"Rose hugged me," I sighed. He looked at me in disbelief before breaking into hysterics. I glared at him but that just seemed to make him laugh even harder. I waited for him to stop laughing but it didn't seem like he was going to at any moment.

"You're such a comedian Mason," he laughed. I got up and went to grab my towel so I could take a shower before going to bed. Eddie was still laughing as I walked into the bathroom. I don't get it, what was so funny with what I said?

{A/N: Does anyone remember the name of the feeder that Lissa always fed from? I also need the name of the staff who arranged their appointments and stuff.}
