Twenty-Nine

"Can you promise not to leave me?" Minji asked Jin as Jin leads her into the house.

"Minji-"

"Minji, what were you thinking?!" Taehyung surprise both of them by yelling.

Jin had thought a million times over what it would feel like to see Taehyung again; he had even rehearsed the words he wanted to throw his way, but as the man stops before him lifting his daughter into his arms in a panic, he was unable to move.

"I wanted to see Jinnie. You wouldn't let me see him, and I don't like my new babysitter. I want Jinnie to be my babysitter." Minji folds her arms as her father held her in his arms, trying to calm down his beating heart.

Taehyung thought he was going to lose his mind when he had arrived home, and the reality hit that his daughter was not home. He kicked out the babysitter immediately and told her that he would be filing charges against her for the negligence of his daughter.

"Minji, you can't do that. Do you know how much you scared me when I found out you weren't home? I know I am not the best father, but baby, please promise you won't ever do this again! You could've been hurt; someone could have t-taken you away from me. What would you have done if Jin didn't answer or show up?"

He didn't know what to say to his daughter; he had never felt any more like a failure than he had right at that moment.

"I am sorry. Jinnie told me I was wrong too. I promise I won't do it again, but daddy, can you please make Jin my babysitter again, please! He treats me like Appa, and he takes care of me. I am sorry for everything I said about him before, but he is the bestest babysitter ever, please daddy can Jinnie be my babysitter again?"

Taehyung looked into his daughter's pleading eyes, not knowing what to say. He lifts his hand and run his fingers through her hair, tucking the loose strands behind her ear. "Sweetheart, let daddy have a moment with Jin, and I will talk to you after, okay."

Minji looked at her father with tears in her eyes as if she already knew he was not going to make Jin her babysitter again. She turned and looked at Jin, "Jinnie, please can you not leave me again. I am sorry if I made you leave, and I am sorry if I made you and daddy fight, I promise to listen to you, and I promise not to bother you when you don't want to be bothered. I promise not to call daddy on you anymore."

Jin still hadn't moved, it's not that he didn't want to, but he couldn't find the will to. All while watching Minji and Taehyung he was brought back to the day he ran away from his uncle's home and called his parents and brother hoping that they would come to get him after he had finally mustered up the courage to tell them what was going on, but none of them answered. He waited and waited for hours for a callback, but he never got one.

He didn't understand why someone as precious as Minji was making promises to him. Promises he didn't deserve. How could she care about someone as messed up as he was?

"Baby, please go into your room for a minute, let daddy and Jin talk. I promise I will let you come back and talk to him after I am done." Taehyung kissed his daughter on her forehead before placing her to stand.

Minji looked between her father and Jin observing the look on both of their faces before walking off to the room Jin once stayed in.

"I don't know if you are listening or if you exist, but if you do, please don't take Jinnie away from me again. You took my Appa from me, and I don't know why, but please give me another chance. I promise I will be good for my dad and to Jinnie." Minji said as soon as she got into the room with tears in her eyes. She knew she was just a child, and maybe that was the reason why her voice didn't matter.

"Your brother told me that the baby was mine," Taehyung said as he walked a bit closer to Jin.

That was all Jin needed to hear to snap him out of the zone he was stuck in. "You mean the embryo?" Jin snapped at Taehyung.

Taehyung leaned his head back and let out a deep frustration sigh, "I don't want to do this with you, Jin. Truthfully, I don't like you, and a major part of me cannot even stand the sight of you in my home, especially knowing what you have done! You are heartless, selfish, reckless, a liar, and so much more, and it drives me insane to know that my daughter clings to you as much as she does.

I have spent nights up thinking why? Why you? I have taken her to my parents and all she does it whines and whines about you! Do you know how much that pisses me off? But then I realize I fucked up as a father. I was never there for her, you were, and if it wasn't you, then it was my husband. I don't know half the shit she likes. Until my husband died, I didn't even recognize that it took so much to care for a child. Then you came along, and you clicked with her, although you drank out my wine, ate my food, did whatever the hell you wanted, she was back to being normal with you around. She missed her appa, but she was in a good place and guess what I fucked it up by sleeping with you.

And as much as it pains me to do this, I need to put my pride aside for the sake of my daughter. I have learned that this isn't about me and what I want, but what will be beneficial for my daughter in the future. Like I told you earlier, I don't like you, and I am not asking you to like me either, but what I am asking you, no, what I am begging you to do is, please don't turn your back on her. I don't know if you have a job right now, but if you don't, can you please consider being her babysitter again?

You running to her today at the park and not leaving her hanging shows me that you care about her, and I am sorry for the things I have said to you before. Although some of them might have been true, I was wrong with the timing and place I chose to say certain things to you. I don't know if I am in any position to ask this of you, but I am hoping you would consider, not for me, but for her?"

Jin looked at Taehyung and chuckled.
