Thirty-Two

"Can you help me fold my laundry, please?" Minji jumps up on the stool and request of Jin who was preparing her dinner. It was now six months since he had been back to being her babysitter. Things were going well for Minji. Jin was there every day with her, and with Jin's schedule, her father was now forced to be home early. He was now spending a lot of time with her, which made Minji really happy.

"Not today, sweetheart, I have to leave on time today, but if you want, I can help you fold them tomorrow," Jin told Minji while giving her an apologetic smile.

He knew Minji was always trying to make him stay later than he was supposed to, but he never allowed it. He kept firm on the time he was supposed to leave work because he tried his best never to come in contact with Taehyung. Most of the time he was going home, Taehyung was pulling into the driveway.

Taehyung was now required to text Seokjin when he was on his way home, Jin usually timed Taehyung's commute and made sure he was ready to go by time Taehyung had arrived at the house.

"Okay, but my dad is going on a business trip tomorrow, he said that you are going to stay with him until he comes back. Does this mean we can have a movie night tomorrow?" Minji looked at Jin hopeful. She loved it when Jin spent extra time with her. He also found something fun for them to do.

Jin was taken back by what Minji was telling him because Taehyung never communicated this to him, and he had made it clear that he would not be sleeping over at Taehyung's house if anything Minji would need to sleep over at his place.

"Let me talk to your father, sweetie, and I will let you know what we can plan for tomorrow, okay?" Jin gave Minji her food and kissed on the cheek before walking out of the kitchen to go and call Taehyung.

Taehyung was shocked to see Jin calling him, Jin never calls him. He picked up immediately, worried that something might have happened to Minji.

"Hey, is something wrong? Minji, okay?"

"Minji is fine. However, she said you are traveling tomorrow and-"

"Oh, I see, listen I am outside, wait for me to come in, and we can talk about this, I wanted to talk to you about it, but I guess Minji beat me to it." Taehyung hung up the phone and let out a deep sigh. The truth was he was trying to get Minji's grandmother to watch her while he was going to be away, but it didn't work out exactly how he had planned. Last night Minji was bugging him about who was going to watch her, and he just told her Jin, he didn't expect that Minji would've told Jin before he had time to talk to him.

It was the exact reason why he had left work earlier than usual so he could see Jin before he left for the time to ask him to spend the week by his house with Minji until he came back.

Jin stood in the living area while waiting patiently for Taehyung to walk into the house. His heart was beating fast in his chest, and his throat became dry. He didn't understand why he was feeling nervous to see Taehyung. Over the past six months, he had done a lot to overcome the built-up anger he had within him, but the idea of seeing Taehyung only brought him back to the last time they interacted, which was not good.

Taehyung walked into the house and threw his key on the table that was at the entrance of his doorway. Loosening his tie and running his hand through his hair, he let out a heavy sigh before walking into the living room where he saw Seokjin standing.

"I am sorry you had to hear that from Minji. I meant to ask you today after I left work, that's why I didn't text you like I usually do. I tried getting her grandmother to watch her for me, but it didn't work out. I know it's last-minute, but can please, please stay here and watch her for me?" Taehyung didn't want to fight with Seokjin; he didn't have the energy to do it either, he had been trying his best for the last six months to be grateful for whatever Jin was doing for Minji while he did his part. However, it does not mean he wasn't still upset with Seokjin; he just decided to prioritize what was more important in his life. Plus, Jin had toned things down and was doing an excellent job with Minji. Minji was back to being happy and joyful, and he didn't know someone besides Minji's appa could have such an impact on her life.
