Mercy had fallen asleep on the sofa Tony planned to carry her to bed once he had quickly tidied away the mess they had made when he heard a quiet whimper from the sofa he peered over and saw mercy shaking as she tossed and turned he left her for a minute and noticed she didn't settle Tony crouched down beside her gently shaking her "hey kid wake up" he said softly she awoke up slamming her fist into his face she gasped when she saw it was tony placing her hands over her mouth in shock "I'm so so sorry" she said quickly

"That's okay" Tony said not wanting to upset her but she still looked concerned "I'm fine" he added "you were having a bad dream or something" he said mercy shivered slightly and said nothing Tony sat down beside her "do you have them often" he asked trying to get her to talk more at the same time trying not to push her which he had learnt through his many attempts of trying to get her to open up was a mistake she would panic and shut herself away quickly "not all the time but often" she answered standing up she waited for Tony to question it and sighed in relief when he didn't she decided to sit back down

"Can I ask you something" she asked he nodded "anything" he answered leaning back on the sofa "my mother, what was she like" mercy asked curiously Tony let out a deep breath deciding carefully the words he would use to describe the mother of his child "your like her in many ways, you have my looks but your have her personalities she was sarcastic and sassy like yourself but she was kind and compassionate too" he said mercy sat in silence not responding she didn't know how to "you should get to bed" Tony said sensing she was finished with the conversation and didn't want to talk she nodded quickly scurrying away

She awoke the next morning and got dressed and went down stairs where she found Tony and pepper eating breakfast "morning" pepper smiled "morning" mercy responded grabbing a plate of food and sitting down "I invited peter over for dinner" Tony said he hoped that the two would make friends he thought that mercy needed some normality in her life like a normal teenager and decided making friends was a good place to start

"Do I have to talk to him" mercy asked Tony sighed and pepper let out a little laugh "yes Hope you do" Tony answered she frowned "if he annoys me you cannot hold me accountable for my actions" she joked Tony let out a loud laughed "did a joke actually just come out it if my daughters mouth" he teased she rolled her eyes laughing slightly leaving the table going to the stables she noticed Eli sat basking in the sun and sat down beside him leaning against the fence she leant across stroking his mane

"Tony's invited some kid round today I think he wants me to make friends I've only ever had two friends and they turned out to be a slightly insane god and a mentally unstable solider so I'm not sure what Tony's hoping for here" she told the house who neighed she smiled slightly "I guess your my only normal friend huh" she mumbled brushing his mane
