"wake up" i shake madison's shoulder
she rolls over on the bed, "what time is it?"
"it's 1am" i sigh
she sits up and pulls herself off the bed. i already packed my stuff so we won't be late. i decided to leave my car here till i come back
we're taking a uber to the airport that is already waiting downstairs. i'm just waiting for madison to get ready. we don't really have a lot of stuff with us
i sit on the bed and wait for her to come out of the bathroom. i hope my uber doesn't charge me extra for making him wait
i grab my passport with my ticket and stare at it. i'm really about to go to new york
i just want my kids to be safe, that's all i care about. i won't let joey get to me. he may be with other girls right now but it won't stop me
"it's going to be freezing when we get there are you sure you want to wear that?" madison points at my outfit
i look down at my clothes, black sweatpants and a black shirt, "i'll wear a jacket then"
"okay" she slips on her shoes
i grab my bag and pull out my white jacket and wrap it around me.
"do you have a extra jacket?" she ask
"yea i do" i remember seeing another jacket in here somewhere. i pull out a leather jacket and scan it up and down making sure no blood is on it
"here" she takes it from my hand and stares at it
"you wear leather jackets?"
i scratch my head, "i- will yea sometimes"
she puts it on and stares herself in the mirror, "lets go"
i zip up my bag and we leave the hotel. we get into our uber and both sit in the back
i'm a bit surprised uber drivers work this late. i stare at the empty road, furrowing my brows when i see a lost dog running down the street
"aww do you think it's lost?" madison breaks the silence in the car
"i hope not"
i open my bag and take out a small snack i stole from the hotel fridge. madison's eyes the food and i sigh, breaking a piece of it off and handing it to her
"thank you" she says taking a bite from the chocolate
"so where are you guys heading too?" our driver ask
"new y-"
"pennsylvania" i interrupt madison and she raises her brow at me, is that even a state?
i kick her leg gently so she gets what i'm trying to do
"pennsylvania? that sounds boring" he says
"we're just visiting family" i fake a laugh
"oh im sorry i didn't know"
"it's okay"
he stops the car at the airport. i thank him before i get out the car. i enter the building with madison following behind me
"we are so early" madison complains
"it's only 1:30, by the time we get through security and get some food it'll be 3"
