"not everyone's an asshole"

We get to G16 and I tell Mattia to wait outside while I tell them he's here.
As soon as i walk in a i feel 30 pairs of eyes staring into my soul. "OMG WHERE IS THE BOY?" "IS HE CUTE?" "IS HE SINGLE?" "Y/N WHERE IS HEEE?"
"okay everyone relax please. He's outside and I wanna tell you now so you don't start acting weird. It's Mattia. Mattia Polibio. So don't act weird, he's a normal person and i don't wanna make him uncomfortable." i say as calmly as i can.
Everyone stares back at me as if i'm talking another language.
"um, hey"
I spin round and see a shy mattia standing in the doorway with a whole room of girls staring at him.
"sorry a teacher asked me why i was waiting outside, she just told me to go in" he says.
"no it's my fault , sorry." i smile at him. "guys, this is our exchange student from New Jersey, Mattia."
Everyone starts clapping for some reason but it doesn't feel forced so it's okay.
Mattia tells them about New Jersey a little bit and then we have to leave for class.
"hey we've got English first." i tell him and he nods and follows me.
We walk into English and see it's a cover lesson because the teachers sick 🎉
Mattia and I sit next to each other in the far corner of the classroom.
While doing the set work , we start talking about people we're close to.
"Jemma is the person i'm most closest too , since she's been my best friend for almost 4 years and i love her to death" I tell him and he smiles such a cute smile that makes my stomach flutter a bit.
"that sounds like me and alejandro , we've been friends for so long and we just know everything about each other." he replies while running his hands through his hair to get it out of his face.
we talk some more and open up about things that i did not expect i would be telling him.
"i don't usually do this you know. i would never tell someone this much about on the first day meeting them but here i am telling you." i look away after saying that because i'm taken over by a wave of red on my face. i see his chair shuffle a little close to mine until our knees touch and he puts his hand on my hand on the table. Goosebumps rise to the surface of my skin at his touch. I look back up at him and his warm hands touch my cheek , "it's okay to connect with someone the first time you meet them you know , not everyone's an asshole" he says with a soft look in his eyes. I'm kind of amazed that he understood why i said it . I can't trust most people anymore and it's sad :(
but he knows without me even having to explain it to him. wow.
"thank you, for not making me explain myself . idk how but you knew what i was going to say."i say without breaking eye contact with him.
he smiles and moves a little closer so our shoulders are touching.
"i guess i can read you well." he says with a small smirk.
i laugh and my head moves over to his shoulder and he lays his head on mine.
We stay like that and keep talking until we have go to the next class.
