Chapter XIX

The next morning was pretty much a blur. Xavier had been talking about how I needed to start training for god knows what and I was only trying to get some food in my stomach, ignoring everything he was saying.

"I know you just arrived, but we want to get you started on your training. You have to be prepared for attacks. It's such a fickle game."

"Cool, as long as I get to throw knives at his head." I said as I pointed a finger at Haden.

"There are certain rules you need to follow for your own safety. Nobody outside of this palace is aware that you're here, so we can't even let you train outside. In fact, you can't leave the palace until nightfall and even when you do, please ensure that you're accompanied by one of us. We can't risk anyone finding out and will try to delay it for as long as possible." Xavier explained.

I wanted to groan out load. This wasn't what I had asked for. I just wanted to chill at the beach in front of my house, have a few martinis with Zeke, ya' know?

"I think we should start with the basics, Haden will show you how to load and unload a gun, aim, fire from different ranges." Xavier stated.

I scoffed, "That's child play."

"I knew it!" Haden exclaimed excitedly.

"Knew what?" I asked him, confused.

"I know a shooter when I see one! In fact, I' guessing you can even throw knives pretty well."

"How do you even know that?" I was surprised as to how accurate he was in his observation.

"I'm the beta of the entire werewolf population, I should know all of this by heart." He said with pride.

"Okay? Can we go now?" I asked Haden. He nodded and led me to the basement while Xavier headed to god knows where.

When we entered the basement, Haden switched on the lights and I was thrilled to see the amount of training accessorize down here.
