Hola! Namaste! How is everybody doing?
Chapter XXXV
Scarlett's P.O.V.
I was anxious to face Xavier again. Not because we had been intimate or because I was afraid, but because I wasn't ready to accept our mate bond.
Urgh!
I was aware that we'd probably have breakfast together, but thankfully Carlos, Hayden and Sasha were all present so normal conversations bloomed on the morning table.
I easily avoided him throughout the morning. I was in a much happier mood when I realized I had been able to put off talking to him.
I had just dropped Sasha off to the guest room since she was packing for her flight this weekend. I offered to help but she said if I came in, we'd probably end up binge watching movies.
Not a lie.
Singing a Tinashe boss bitch song, I was making my way to my room leisurely.
I was taking my time, admiring the infrastructure of the palace when a hand wrapped around my wrist and pulled me into a room.
I barely had time to react when the door was shut closed.
Surprised, I turned around to be faced with a livid Xavier.
I gulped, oh boy.
None of us said a word, he just kept staring at me with the anger radiating from his body.
"Alrighty, wonderful seeing you too." I saluted awkwardly.
He didn't reply so I walked towards the door, "Adios amigo-"
"Oomph!" I groaned as he pulled me into his body.
"Don't.Ever ask me to mark you again!" He breathed.
I furrowed my brows slightly, pulling my hand away from his.
"Scarlett, you cannot ask something of me that you are not ready for!" He explained hurriedly as I walked towards the door again.
"What do you want Xavier?"I asked, turning to face him.
"You." He said.
I grinned, "Me?"
"You are such a tease!" He growled out.
I couldn't help but feel triumph.
"Only for you baby." I replied cheekily.
"Paybacks a bitch." He said as he approached me.
He dipped his head in the curve of my neck, kissing and grazing it.
His fangs came out and he applied the slightest pressure on my neck.
I couldn't help but gasp.
He lifted his face, smirking at me through his fangs.
God, he was wickedly gorgeous!
"See you later princess." He said as he disappeared from my view.
Oh he was such an asshole!
Dumbstruck, I went to my room and called Zeke.
"Hey bitch, guess what?" He screeched excitedly.
"What?" I asked.
"Guess."
"You're pregnant?" I said sarcastically.
I could practically hear him roll his eyes as he answered, "No idiot, I BOUGHT TICKETS TO VENICE!!!"
"Really!??" I jumped up from the bed, adrenaline getting the best of me.
"YES! I HAVE A FLIGHT TOMORROW! I'M COMING TO SEE MY BABY!"
"OH MY GOD, AHHHHHHH!" I exclaimed happily as I did a little dance.
Carlos came running into the room to check up on me and I just gave him a sheepish smile.
He just shook his head as he walked out.
"IT'S BEEN SO LONG!" I said.
"YES GURL, you finally came back from New York and I thought I'd have you all to myself. Little did I know, you'd go running to yo' mate sis." He sassed.
"I did not run to him!" I argued.
"Oh, you soooo did!"
"I can't wait to see you." I smiled.
"Yeah me too, now I gotta go pack, I'll see you soon! EKK!" He hung up after that.
I sighed happily.
I missed Zeke a lot. He was my second half, more precious than anyone else.
We'd known each other since we were toddlers but we hadn't become friends up until the third grade. We've been inseparable since then.
Later that day I was sitting on the balcony bench, basking in the rays of the late sun when Xavier sat down to occupy the seat next to mine.
We were silent for a while but there was something that was bothering me since the moment I had met him and I just had to ask him.
"Why did I not sense that you were my mate during the coronation?" I voiced.
He sighed running a hand through his ever flowing hair, "They injected silver in our blood before the coronation."
"What?!?" This was insane, "Silver in your blood!?"
He nodded, "It's their way of ensuring none of the Alpha wolves lash out during the coronation. When entering the competition they make us sign papers, we all agreed to it." He explained calmly.
What was wrong with these people? Why would he agree on something like this? Silver directly injected into one's blood was lethal for a werewolf.
"Why did you want to be King?" I had asked a question whose answer I knew I was afraid of.
Nobody joined the process unwillingly, everyone had a motive.
I had been in Xavier's company long enough and yet I felt like I barely knew anything about his life, his past, his dreams and his aspirations.
Wasn't it normal to share things like that with your special other?
For the first time ever, he scoffed at me,"None of your business."
I was taken aback but smiled, "True, it's none of my business. Probably because it's my job."
I was just trying to crack a bad pun but clearly, it didn't work on Xavier.
He just looked at me like I'd grown a second head.
"You good bro?" He asked pretending to check my temperature.
I swatted his hand away mumbling, "Asshole."
He chuckled lightly before looking at me, "It's dinner time, let's go."
He got up and offered me his hand.
When I was finally up, he pulled me close, a hand circling around my waist.
He placed a kiss on my forehead whispering, "I'll tell you everything one day."

Bro, it's literally so hot out right now, I'm about to melt.
