Chapter 49 woop woop!
Hey dolls, how've you been?
I said I'd finish this book this year, and I will. Two updates today, mwah <3
Chapter XLIX
Scarlett Ruse
The message was clear. Crystal clear.
It had a picture of my sister, she barely looked alive.
I had been given me a riddle, asking me to solve it within the next 24 hours.
I had been locked away in my room, whacking my brain for some sort of solution.
Xavier had tried to ask me what I had seen in the box but I refused to tell him.
The riddle read -
Fret not from the dark,
We live in the village of night,
Running with the ones you fear.
If you value her life, come find her alone.
As I slowly joined the dots, it all made sense. The village of night was the city of the vampires!
Paris!
Screaming in joy, I started scrolling through google, opening up a map of Paris.
It was dinner time when I had a rough location tracked down in Paris. I had been doing my research and had circled some major vampire locations there.
I went to the hall, having dinner with everyone as usual.
Xavier asked everyone to give the two of us a moment after food was over.
I rolled my eyes. There was no way I'd tell him anything even though I knew he could help. I could not risk saying it out loud. The people who kidnapped my sister were aligned with all of the super naturals and god knows they'd figure out if I brought someone along.
I didn't have a death wish, and I sure wasn't foolish enough to leave the palace without leaving some clues. I just knew I couldn't say it out loud.
Even the palace wasn't safe, I knew for a fact that the royalty and their guard had been infiltrated as well.
"I can help you." he said softly, searching my face for some sort of answer, "You have to trust me."
I nodded curtly, getting up.
He grabbed my wrist before I could leave, "I hope you know what you're doing. I don't want you getting hurt."
I looked at him for a second too long. How? How was he so understanding, so compromising?
I placed a peck on his forehead whispering, "Sleep safe."
He looked at me with a knowing face," You too."
With that I walked out the room.
Quickly packing a small duffel bag, I worked as quietly as possible.
I loaded my guns, sharpened my knives and gulped on some water.
I only kept a bag of weapons and my passport.
Leaving the map with red outlines on my bed, I also placed a knife at the foot of Haydens door. It was a knife he had gifted me.
I could only hope he'd understand my message.
I engraved the word 'Paris' onto on of my lipstick. I rolled it under Xavier's room before heading out.
It was past midnight now.
Tonight the backyard was empty of any guards, courtesy of Xavier.
We kind of made a good team. Stupid boy was making me smile through the pain.
Not wasting any time, I escaped the palace. Once I was on the road, I hitchhiked with a teenager till the airport.
Thank god there were still cars on the road.
Running through the airport, I barely made it in time for the last flight to Paris. Just my luck.
As the flight took off, I could only pray for my sister.
Rose, here I come.
Xavier Kacee Morris
I was up all night, my gut not letting me rest. She was going to leave alone and I wasn't going to stop her.
We'd follow her. She was smart, she knew the power of her enemy. Our enemy.
She knew they were keeping an eye on us.
Still, I didn't want her to walk into trouble.
It was around midnight when I heard the sound of something skidding across my floor.
It appeared to be a lipstick.
Scarlett.
Rushing to it, I looked at it in confusion. It was a plane cover. Curiously opening it, I rolled the whole stick out.
In a tiny handwriting it had something engraved on it -'Paris'.
