After Divination the four of us walked down the hill to Hagrid's hut where we were supposed to meet for our Care of Magical Creatures class. Hermione continued on nitpicking Professor Trelawney and the class. "Death omens. Honestly. If you ask me, Divination's a very wooly discipline. Now, Ancient Runes. That's a fascinating subject." Ron looked at her confused "Ancient Runes? Exactly how many classes are you taking this term?" Hermione glanced at me nervously before she came up with a vague answer "A fair few."

"Hang on. Ancient Runes is the same time as Divination. You'd have to be in two classes at once." Ron concludes with a suspicious tone towards the bushy haired girl. "Don't be silly. How could anyone be in two classes at once?" Hermione countered with a glass roll of her eyes and trying to throw him off she mimicked Trelawney. "Broaden your minds..." We came to a stop out front of Hagrid's hut "C'mon now, get a move on! Got a real treat for yeh. Great lesson comin' up. Follow me." Hagrid grinned and started to lead us through the forbidden forest and to a small paddock.

"Gather 'round. Find yerself a spot. That's it. Now, firs' thing yeh'll want ter do is open yer books --" Draco crosses his arms challenging him "And exactly how do we do that?" Hagrid looked at each of us nervously as our textbooks quivered violently. His eyes fell on me and to the purring book I held open in my hands. Everyone in our class looked at me with wide eyes "See! 'Phelias got it. All yeh've got ter do is stroke 'em. Look--" Hagrid took Hermione's book and did what I had done, trailed his finger down the spine of the book making it shiver and fly open.

He handed Hermione back her book and looked over our class unsure at the nervous and slightly disgusted faces of the Slytherins. "Righ' then. So... so... yeh've got yer books, an' now yeh need the Magical Creatures. Right. So... I'll... I'll go an' get 'em." He walked off into the trees leaving us all alone and many of the students to struggle with their books. Harry had a hard time getting a good grip on his book so I took his and handed him mine which remained asleep in his hands. I ran my pointer finger slowly and softly down the books spine and it flapped open and started purring as well.

Harry looked at me in awe as I handed him his book back and it stayed asleep and relaxed. "How did you-?" I shrugged with a small smile "I've read all my dad's books from school and work." Behind us Draco and his goons Crabbe and Goyle made fun of Hagrid and his class. "God, this place is going to the dogs. Wait until my father hears Dumbledore's got this oaf teaching classes." Harry spun around and glared at him "Listen, you stupid prat --" I grabbed his arm gently "Harry he's not worth it"

My eyes went back to Draco to see his widening as he stepped backwards in false fear with a finger pointing behind Harry and I. I knew instantly Draco was faking he never was a good liar or actor. "Potter, there's a Dementor behind you." Harry jumped around in fright but found nothing. I sighed softly when the Slytherins started to laugh and make ghostly noises at Harry. With a small woosh of my fingers without anyone noticing all of the Slytherins book snapped shut and started to growl at them, Draco's book lunged at him making him screech.

The rest of the class laughed at the snakes and I couldn't help but grin as his mischievous smirk was wiped off his face. Someone nudged my side which made me turn towards them finding a smirking Harry. "Did you do that?" He whispered, I rose my brows with a smirk and a shrug "Maybe..." The two of us turned our attention back towards where Hagrid was when twigs sapping could be heard. Everyone in class backed up in fear of the large beast Hagrid had emerged with, I stood my mouth a gape at the beautiful wings of the Hippogriff that I had only read about. "Gee up, there! Beau'iful, isn' he?" Hagrid grinned but it faltered when he saw no one speak and instead stared in wariness and wonder.

Hagrid leads the hippogriff into the center of the paddock while Ron is the first to finally speak up "Hagrid. Exactly what is that?" Hagrid shrugged slightly as if it was commomn knowledge to most. "A Hippogriff, o' course. Now, firs' thing yeh gotta know is they're proud. Easily offended, Hippogriffs are. Don't never insult one, 'cause it migh' be the las' thing yeh do. Right then -- who wants ter come an' say hello?" Apparently all of the students stepped back while I stood marveling at the tall winged creature, I hadn't noticed that Harry stayed beside me. "'Phelia! Good man for joining 'er Harry!"

I glanced back at the other over my shoulder and carefully walked forward "Tha's it. Easy now... stop! This here's Buckbeak, 'Phelia. Yeh want ter let 'im make the firs' move. It's polite, see? Jus' take step forward, give 'im a bow, and if Buckbeak bows back, yeh're allowed ter touch him. Ready?" I nodded slowly not wanting to scare Buckbeak, I inches forward and bowed as my eyes lingered on his. Harry slowly bowed next to me and together we stood up and waited as Buckbeak broke into a fierce smile. Our class erupted into claps besides most of the Slytherins.

"Back up! Back up!" Bag rid instructed and the two of us did as told only taking a few steps and watching as Buckbeak bowed his head back. "Well done, 'Phelia, Harry! Go on. Give 'im a pat." I carefully walked closer to Buckbeak and left my hand in front of his nose so he could smell me before I pet him. He nudged his beak against my hand lifting it to his neck as I pet him softly.

"Look at that! I reckon he migh' let ya ride 'em" Hagrid exclaimed proudly, before he grabbed Harry and set him on top of Buckbeak and went to put me up. "Oh my-woah!" Hagrid lifted me up and sat me behind Harry. He smacked Buckbeak making him take off before we were ready, I wrapped my arms around Harry's torso tightly and hid my face in his back. "I don't like this" I practically screamed into his back but when I heard his laughter my head perked up at him dubiously "Are you mad? Why are you laughing!?"

Harry carefully held onto me and switched our spots as Buckbeak steadily flew. "Look" He instructed as he pulled my hands away from my face. I opened my eyes to find we were flying just above the black lake, Buckbeak trailed one of his talons against the smooth water which brought the giant squid up for a moment. I looked around amazed at the sight and the feeling of the wind brushing back my curls as chuckles escaped my lips. I leaned back against Harry's chest and glanced up at him, he was looking around and a wide smile on his face as we were free from the worry of the wizard world for now.

When a loud piercing whistle reached Buckbeak ears he started to fly back toward the paddock in the Forbidden Forest. He landed softly and Harry slid off first and reached up to help me down. I hadn't realized that his hands stayed on my waist for a few lingering minutes as the class clapped.

"Good work, both ya!" Hagrid cheered loudly before he leaned down slightly "How'm I doin' me firs' day?" He asked nervously under his breath, the two of us smiled brightly "Absolutely brilliant..Professor" I winked as I called him professor which made him grin.

Our smiles fell when Draco shoved passed me harshly "Give me a go at that thing. If Lupin and Potter can do it, it must be easy. You're not dangerous at all, are you, you great ugly brute --" My eyes widened as Draco strutted straight towards Buckbeak without following any of Hagrids past instructions "Draco!" I shouted at the same time as Hagrid. "Malfoy! No!" Before anyone could pull him back Draco had been hit my Buckbeak with one of his large talons.

I rushed towards Buckbeak to calm him down and as soon as he saw me he lowered back onto all four legs and bowed his head again. I breathed a sigh in relief knowing he was calm and wouldn't do anything else. I turned around and saw the blood covering Draco as he rolled on the ground "It's killed me! It's killed me!" He cried out which made Hagrid secretly roll his eyes "Calm yerself! Yer fine... jus' a scratch..." he Trailed off when he came in contact with the deep bloody gash on Draco's arm.

"Hagrid. He's got to be taken to a hospital. I'll go with you, if you like --" Hagrid shook his head at Hermione's offer and climbed back to his feet and glanced around "No. I'm the teacher. You all...you all just... Class dismissed!" He swooped Draco up and hung him over his shoulder and lumbered towards the castle.
