"-is daddy okay?" Jason asked as I buckled him in.

"Let's not talk about daddy right now" I told him.

"Why?" He asked. Here goes the why game. I got over to my side of the car and got in.

"Because mommy is mad at daddy" I told him as I pulled out of the parking space.

"Why?" He asked.

"Because he hurt my feelings" I replied.

"Why?" He asked.

"Because he's mean" I stated as I pulled onto the road that led to interstate.

"Why?" He asked.

"Because he kissed another girl" I told him. How am I supposed to tell a six year old that his step-father cheated on his mother and had sex with another girl? That's right, you don't.

"Girls are icky, except for you mommy. You don't have cooties" he said. That girl Ricky slept with probably has cooties...

"That's right, Jason. Keep that mindset, dating is nothing but trouble" I told him as I merged onto the exit that takes us to the road that Ricky's apartment is on.

"How come you're dating then?" He asked.

"Because I love your daddy" I said.

"Then how come you aren't talking to him?" He asked.

"How do you know that I'm supposed to talk to your daddy?" I asked.

"Because when bad daddy and dead mommy were mad at each other, they talked" he replied.

"Mommy and daddy need time to cool down, daddy messed up and needs to think, and I need time to cool down" I told him.
