2: Breakfast Meet-Up

From then on, you sat with the hoofed herbivores. Els, Ellen, Pina the dall sheep and Tem and San the alpacas. Two second years, two first years and one third year. It was a pretty good mix, if you thought about it. San knew everything about the school, and he was friends withe the super popular red deer Louis. Els and Ellen knew some stuff, but they also wouldn't be graduating too soon. And then Pina and Tem were first years who were going through some of the same things that you were.

"Hey, I was wondering if you were coming." Pina said, greeting you.

"Yeah I got hungry." You said, as you began to eat your herbivore meal. You tried to only eat your carnivore meals when you took food to-go, just to be sure and not make anyone uncomfortable.

"Did you get everything unpacked okay?" Ellen asked, looking up from her own food.

"Yeah." you replied as you crunched the delicious berries on your plate. "It's kind of weird, my room though because I'm sharing with the like two other omnivore girls. There's a lot of room."

"Who else is an omnivore?" Pina asked, eyebrows knitted in wonder.

"There's a Sus scrofa, Midge." You swallowed your food, trying not to talk and eat at the same time. "And a Civettictis civetta, I think she said her name was Zora, but she's nocturnal so she was pretty much asleep."

"Plain language please, for us lesser educated folk?" Pina snarked with a smile.

"Wild boar and civet. I'm surprised the boar's in there with you, can't they be 100% herbivore?" Ellen added.

"Yeah, but she's..." You lowered your voice so not to gossip to the whole cafeteria. "She's a pig-boar hybrid I think, so she's really big and her tusks are big too... She's a second year; maybe someone complained."

You continued your small talk like that for a little while, when eventually it got to how you ended up in this school.

"My parents are both maned wolves and their parents are all maned wolves, so I think they wanted me to be like, of a higher status. Maybe so I can find my own maned wolf..."

You could tell they were still curious and wanted the whole story, but they didn't press, thankfully. As you continued talking, Tem, San and Els joined the table, with Els blushing up a storm while she talked with Tem

"Hey, Ellen!" San greeted the Zebra cheerfully.

"Hey guys, have a seat." Ellen replied. She was kind of the ring leader of the group, but ungulates didn't usually have that herd set-up, so she was more accurately the most outspoken.

"So who's signing up again this year?" San asked the group.

"Signing up for what?" You replied with curiosity.

"Oh, yeah. You're a transfer student so you wouldn't know about the drama club." Els responded.

"It's only the best club on campus." Tem nodded furiously.

"With Louis, future Beastar, as the head." San added proudly, loving the name drop of his friend.

They all had friendly smiles as they began eating. This was starkly different from the first few weeks of school and nothing made you happier. There was no reason to be afraid of you.
