"You're not fun right now." Louis proclaimed at he approached the single dorms back on campus.
"I didn't think it was a requirement to be fun all the time."
"Right, but maybe I'm just a little too interested in your life right now."
"You and the rest of my friends." You looked around the building Louis apparently resided in. "Must be nice having this single dorm."
"Occasionally, it is." Louis nodded and unlocked his door, inviting you in. "But most of the time it's lonely."
"Hah." Your laugh was more of a bark. "You're the most popular animal in Cherryton. You could have anyone here happily."
"You're completely right." He nodded and hung up his jacket. Next came slipping off his shoes and pulling down his suspenders. "Now tell me, Miss Smarty, why then do I want to fill it with someone who doesn't want to be here at all."
You took your shoes off out of politeness, but you lingered by the door. Next, Louis unbuttoned his shirt and pulled it from his pants.
"Because it's different."
"Partially correct. While I do appreciate the uniqueness of the situation," Louis moved behind you to take off your jacket and loosen your school tie. "But the whole truth is that I take a special interest in animals who don't care about me. And not just the casual, they don't know me, kind of nonchalance." His mouth made its way to your ear once again, but this time his body was behind you. "I care about the animals that lie to themselves. The ones who can't admit anything." He pushed you forward, towards a sofa that looked more expensive than you were. "Do you find me attractive, YN?"
You looked up and down his body. It wasn't in your personality to not take questions seriously.
"Not in any amazing way." You admitted. "You are conventionally good looking. But nothing that drives me crazy."
"Do you want me, in any kind of way?"
"Honestly... no." You laid your head on the sofa.
Louis took a break from the questioning and laid his head next to yours on the sofa. Then, he took his fake antlers off and set them on his coffee table. This aroused your interest and your eyes went from staring blankly to looking intently. Louis had no choice but to notice, yet instead of asking what he wanted to, he simply took your hand and placed it on his head.
"You look like a doe." You told him.
"You look like a fox." He shot back.
Electricity seemed to spark between the two of you for a few seconds before both of you giggled.
"I've felt more alone than usual, YN. And I need someone who's honest with me." He held your hand sincerely and you saw the true deer that was Louis for just a minute. "I'm not asking you to fall in love with me. In fact, I'd rather you didn't. I just want to be myself around someone who I can trust doesn't have an ulterior motive."
"Is there a reason you can't just say 'I want to be your friend'?" You wrapped your fingers around the deer's.
"Yes. A lot of reasons. And we can get to them, maybe, if you agree to my next offer."
"I don't want to hear it." You sighed. "I'm sure it'll make my life more complicated."
"Come live with me, for just a few days." Louis brought your hand to his mouth and gently rubbed the knuckles with his lips. "Let's deny our instincts when we're in this room together. Take a break from the world out there full of obligations, plastic animals and clueless idiots like Legoshi."
And for once, it was an easy decision.
AN wow never writing on my phone again. Deleted a whole chapter... ugh
