30: Together Again

"The town's community is asking us to be in charge of the Meteor Festival's decoration again!" Sanu announced to the group. "This is a great honor! So of course, we're going to do it, right? This'll be another opportunity to spread our fame outside of the school."

"YAY!" Sheila cheered. "We can go in the town again this summer! I'm so excited!"

"Hey, you guys! We're not going there to fool around! We're going to assist with the festival!" Ellen was of course the one to remind all the excited animals of the real task.

The stage crew, however, looked a lot less excited.

"We're having a meeting in the storage house." Dom spoke plainly to everyone on the crew. "Ready?"

With a sigh, Mina the giraffe, Kibi the tapir, Dom, Kai, Legoshi, Fudge, Moro and a new owl you hadn't met, all stood up and you exited with them.

"These are all the pieces we made last year, but I guess we can't reuse them, huh?"

"Why not?" Mina asked plainly.

"They'd know and call us unoriginal." Dom shook his head. "So dumb. Anyway, we're going to be so busy..."

"I, uh," You rubbed your foot on the ground. "I was going to go home for the summer."

"Do what you can." Dom waved you off. "I'm not worried about it."

"So, we need to make new sculptures, even though everyone is just looking forward to the light ceremony on the final day. We can reuse the meteor imitation, right?" Mina spoke again.

"Yeah, right." Dom nodded.

"Why do they like that?" You asked, confused.

"Couples go to the meteor, light a candle together and then place it by the meteor. It's so romantic."

"It's just an even for normies." Kai snarled. "The actor team will all be busy hanging out with their boyfriends and girlfriends."

"Don't forget the dance team." Kibi added.

"Well that's not a problem. They're relying on us to do a good job." Dom asserted.

"That's not my point." Kai's shoulders slumped down. "I'm saying that it's possible that they're relying on us because we all happened to have lots of free time on the day of the festival?"

Oh... he means we're all single... You realized. Awkward.

"You need to understand our struggle." Fudge nodded. "When the stage crew gets pissed, there's one particular member who's going to be especially dangerous." Legoshi's eyes became down turned. "Oh no!! We're not worried about you anymore! How's your back?"

"It's getting better..."

"Okay, good! Let's all eat dinner in the cafeteria today! Together. It's been a while." Fudge winked at you and nudged your arm, earning a shove from you.

"S-Sorry, I have someplace I need to be!!" Legoshi turned and took off. "See you!"

"What?!" Dom looked dumbfounded. "See you?"

"He's such a weirdo. Doesn't want to eat dinner with our baby omnivore?!"

"It's your fault for making it awkward! At least try to be less obvious!"

"Actually, he smelled his friend." You told them. "A little bunny."

"That must hurt." Mina patted your shoulder. "I'm sorry, YN."

"Hurt?" You raised an eyebrow. "Why would that hurt? I hardly know Legoshi."

Everyone's face deadpanned. Of course you would say something dumb like that. It made teasing you all the better.
