50: Things Are Getting Dangerous

"Come on, we can't be seen here. Let's go back to my room." Louis looked around and pulled you with him while looking at his phone. "Look at these and tell me if she's upset."

You took his phone and scrolled through the messages.

"Uh, don't scroll up too much." Louis gave a half-chuckle. "I can't guarantee your sensitive soul won't be disturbed."

You rolled your eyes and read the messages.

Louis: I'll be there at 8. Don't leave without me.

Louis: Sorry, got caught up. Next time.

Louis: Haru

Haru: What

Louis: Are you mad at me?

Haru: Doesn't matter. When it's finally the day of the fesital, I won't matter at all.

Louis: Pick up your phone.

Louis: You don't even want to talk? Fine. I'll come find you in person.

"Yeah, she's mad."

"God, why must females always at temperamental without an explanation?" He mused, looked towards you with an ill-disguised smile.

"Why must males have such unreasonably high expectations for females, yet continue to let them down at the lowest of bars?" This was aimed mostly at Louis, but a little bit at a certain wolf.

Suddenly a flush of wind passed behind you both. Louis whipped around and put his hand on his gun. He motioned for you to be quiet and pretend to walk away with him.

Judging by his spots and bone structure, this guy has to be a jaguar, not a leopard. What am I supposed to do with him? Legoshi had the attacker in a hold that didn't allow the feline to break free. God. I just woke up early so I could give a flower to Tem. I didn't think Louis would be here... especially with YN... I'll just hide or something. Things were weird and primal last time I saw them together. I don't think Louis wants to see me right now anyway... But if I didn't restrain this guy, he would have definitely attacked those two. Who knows which he was aiming for. I can't compete with a feline's speed so I just need to restrict his movement.

After a moment of grappling, Legoshi figured the footsteps of you and Louis were gone. So he moved to talk to the jaguar.

"Hey, I'm sorry, okay!? Let me go!!" The feline's voice rang out. A bit nervous for Louis, you put a hand on his chest and wrapped your tail around his back. His heart was beating strongly. "Since when did Louis get a body guard?!"

"He didn't. I thought you might be after him and not YN. So, tell me, why did you try to attack Louis?"

"Heh, you're nothing special. Why should I tell you? Just go and do tricks for the bastAR-- OKAY!" Legoshi yanked the delicate tail. "I'll tell you! Even though you should already know. There's a lot of carnivore students who are planning to lynch Louis. Rumor has it, he'll definitely become the next Beastar after the festival and if he of all animals becomes the school's leader, the carnivore's social standing will suffer terribly. Look!" Legoshi pulled harder. "I just wanted to get ahead of everyone else and try to make a name for myself! You're a WOLF! So you should understand how we feel! We gotta keep Louis in check! We'll suffer if we don't!"

Louis stepped in to stop a fight between a wolf and a tiger-- apex predators. He pays his respect to underclassmen without wanting attention... He has the best girl a guy could have all to himself and any other girl he wants. Compared to me, my methods are aggressive and conniving. I'm outmatched by a guy like him.

"He's the most suitable beast for Beastar. I'll protect him."

Things are getting dangerous. I don't think I can protect  Louis and still have feelings for Haru...

Distracted, the jaguar was able to land a punch and walk away. But not before you and Louis took off.

Maybe I'll keep my one-sided love to myself...
