24: Left Alone

"Uh... Legoshi?" You asked again. It was his turn to turn his head to look at you. He almost lost control when he saw the state of your eyes and the amount of fang that was slipping out of your lips.

"Yeah, YN?" His eyes tried to look anywhere but your own. He knew he wouldn't last long otherwise.

"Who's taking over your spot for tomorrow?"

"Kai." He answered shortly. He was nervous about where this was going.

"Who's taking over his spot?"

"N-No one."

"Can I?" You asked him, eyes suddenly shining and clear and gazing into his. "Please, please, pretty please?! I want to be helpful! I get tired of listening to Pina's gossip all rehearsal."

Legoshi's eyes lazily drifted over you. He noted your eyes, of course, but also your rapidly wagging tail, and your little peeping fangs.

Suddenly, he leaned over towards you and placed a hand right next to your thigh.

"Why do you smell so good?" His eyes went from full to half-lidded. "Why do I want to say yes to everything you ask..."

"I-I-I-I--" Legoshi's large snout inhaled the fur on your head deeply, causing your mind to go blank.

"You smelled like Bill the other day." Legoshi's eyes seemed to drip into your soul. "Why?"

"He-he-he was teaching me! Something!" You quaked in your spot, but felt no desire to run. In fact, if anything, you wanted to crawl onto the large predator's lap.

"I can teach you stuff too..." His voice was a growl. "I'll teach you Kai's role..."

"Or Kai can! I just wanted permission!" You yipped.

"Are you scared of me?" Legoshi asked quietly.

At this point, Ellen and Els had called all the other hoofed animals over and there was a massive crowd at the windows. Everyone was rooting for the little maned wolf to get her crush.

"No! No I'm not!" squirming in your seat, Legoshi leaned over more, now looming entirely over you. Before you could evacuate, you were encased in warm, soft, gray fur.

"That makes me happy." Legoshi let out a long breath. "I'm not meant to be an apex predator. I scare everyone away, even when I'm trying to be gentle."

Your heart beat rapidly and you felt light-headed.

Suddenly, words poured from Legoshi's mouth like a waterfall.

"I almost killed a rabbit the other day. No matter how hard I fight against my instincts... I'm a danger. I don't want to be around herbivores because I'm afraid I'll hurt them. I'm too dangerous for this school... for this society."

I should lick him. Bill told me to use what he taught me... But this doesn't feel like the right time? I wish I was a pack animal. Maybe I'd innately know when to do what.

"You're soft." You commented quietly as you gave into the grip and leaned into him.

"And my tummy fur matches my face..."

"Not just fur. Your personality."   You explained in a whisper. "You look scary, and you make people nervous. But you try so hard, we all know you're genuine. I don't think you would have killed the rabbit... But then again... I don't know what your intentions are right now..."

"You should be scared." Legoshi warned you. "You should be scared of what I want to do to you."

"I wish I was..."
