"You can come over if you want, but I'm babysitting Addalyn," Jenson's voice comes through my phone speaker.
"Okay, I'll be over in a few," I tell him.
Jenson is my best friend; we've been best friends since we were in the seventh grade. Addalyn is Jenson's niece. His parents are out of town for the weekend, and Maren, Addalyn's mom, has to work today. Jenson is the youngest of three siblings:
First, there's Austin, he's 25.
Second, there's Maren, she's 23.
Third, there's Lauren, she's 21.
And lastly, there's Jenson, he (and I) is 18. Jenson and Maren (and Addalyn, of course) are the only siblings that still live at home.I grab my keys, tell my mom bye and head out the door to Jenson's.
When I knock on the door, I hear Daisy, Jenson's yellow lab, start barking.
"Who's here?" I hear Jenson say. "Should we go see who's here?"
The door opens and Jenson is standing there holding Addalyn in his arms.
Addalyn is twenty months old.
"Hi," I say.
"Hey," Jenson says.
"You okay?" I ask him. "You look like something's on your mind,"
"Yeah, I'm alright, I'll tell you about it later,"Jenson and I are sitting on the couch when it happens.
We're talking about our senior homecoming and stuff when Addalyn comes running through the house. I really don't even know how it happens, but she falls hard, scraping her knee, busting her lip, and making her nose bleed. For a split second, I don't think she's going to cry, but then she bursts into tears, screaming crying.
I jump up off of the couch and go over to her, picking her up and holding her. I grab a tissue and hold it to her nose and lean her slightly forward. I carry her to the bathroom where Jenson is waiting and set her down on the counter. After a few minutes, the bleeding stops and Jenson takes care of her knee and puts a cold washcloth on her lip.We all end up back on the couch in the living room.
Jenson turns on Mickey Mouse for Addalyn and gets her a sippy cup with apple juice in it, and we wait for Maren to get here."This is why Mommy tells you not to run through the house," Maren says when she comes in the living room after she gets finished showering after work when Addalyn points to her 'boo-boos'.
Maren leans over the couch and lifts Addalyn into her arms.
"I think it's time for your nap," Maren says. I look at the clock on the mantel and find that it's only 1 PM.
"Mare," Jenson says. "Jax and I are going to go upstairs,"
Maren looks at her little brother; they share a secret (and silent) conversation but Maren finally says, "Okay, I'll either be here or in our room."
Jenson nods and gets off the couch. "Come on, Jax," he says to me.Jenson opens the baby gate at the bottom of the stairs and lets me pass before him; I do the same when we're at the top of the stairs. Addalyn and Maren's room is downstairs, but they still keep baby gates at the bottom and top of the stairs just in case someone takes her upstairs or so she can't climb up them from the bottom.
"You go ahead and go in, I'll be right there," Jenson says to me when we reach his bedroom.
I'm starting to get worried about him--he's acting different, and I don't like it, but I nod and go in his bedroom, sitting on the bed.Jenson comes into the room a few minutes after and closes the door behind him.
"Are you alright, Sonny?" I ask him. 'Sonny' is one of Jenson's nicknames given to him by his family, but I used to occasionally call him that; I haven't called him Sonny in a long time.
"Y-you haven't called me Sonny in a really long time," he says softly, looking at me.
"Are you okay, though? You look like you're about to cry," I say.
He looks at me but doesn't say anything. He crosses the floor and comes over to me.
"Hey," I say softly, comfortingly, confusedly.
He smiles at me. "I love you, Jax," he says softly.
Before I can say anything, he leans over me and puts his lips against mine.
I gasp against his mouth as he drops down onto my lap. He smiles into the kiss as he puts a hand on the back of my head. I open my mouth against his and this gives him the chance he needed to slip his tongue inside my mouth, causing me to gasp once more. He laughs against my mouth, kissing me deeper and harder. Before I can stop my brain from letting it out as he gently nips my bottom lip, I let out a teensy moan. And of course, this causes him to smile more and kiss me even harder. When he pulls back, he pulls back slowly, pulling my bottom lip gently. He looks at me, cupping my cheek and bringing his thumb to trace over my lip.
"Lay back," he whispers, climbing off of my lap and pushing me down by my shoulder.
I look up at him through my eyelashes. He laughs lightly before he presses his lips down onto my neck.
"Do you want this?" he whispers to me, hovering his body over top of me, brushing his lips against mine.
I'm breathing heavily and my arms are above my head. "Yes," I whisper breathlessly.
He smiles at me and kisses my lips. He grabs the hem of my shirt and brings over my head.
"You're so beautiful," he whispers to me. "So beautiful," he murmurs.
I feel myself blush and close my eyes against his touch--his soft, loving touch.
He scoots himself down my body and leans down, pressing his lips against my ribs.
I let out a shaky breath and look at him.
"Is this okay?" he whispers, looking up at me through his eyelashes.
I nod. "More than okay," I whisper.
I reach for his hand and slide my fingers in between his; he looks at me, smiling and squeezes my hand gently. He moves his lips down to the waistband of my pants and folds them back.
"I only want this if you do," he whispers.
I look at him, my breath getting caught in my throat. I grab his face and pull him up to mine, pressing my lips against his.
"I want this just as much as you," I whisper to him.ღ ღ ღ
I look over at Jenson from my spot in his bed.
He notices me looking and smiles at me.
"What made you kiss me?" I ask him softly, grabbing his hand and starting to play with his fingers absentmindedly.
"I've been thinking about it for a while, to be honest," he begins. "It was last Christmas, actually when I realized that I liked you more than a best friend,"
"That's almost a year ago,"
"I know. It was really hard some days to be with you and not be able to kiss you. I was scared to tell you how I felt, but lately, I've been talking to Maren, and I just decided a few days ago that one of the next times that I saw you, I was going to tell you,"
I smile at him and lean over, pressing my lips to his.
"I love you, Sonny," I whisper.
"I love you, Jax," he whispers back, kissing me.5/12/2020
