❝ let me go ❞ PJM - angst

He sat down on the bench, eyes gazing straight towards the lake. "Jimin." he heard a voice beside him and he turned to see y/n.

"Jimin what's wrong?" she asked, eyes gazing over his conflicted figure. "What's bothering you?"

"Nothing." he said, looking down on his hands. "I just loved you so much."

She smiled, hand landing on top of his. "I know that already. And I love you too."

"Do you really wanna be here with me?" he asked, facing her as she stood silent, slightly taken aback. "Or am I just hanging onto you so much that you feel like it's a responsibility for you to still stay?"

"I can't let you go yet." he whispered. "I love you too much."

"Then stop shutting everyone off jimin." she whispered. "I want you to face the world without me. I want you to love your life without me."

"I want you to rely on someone who isn't me. Please."

"I can't do that y/n. You know I can't—"

She cupped his cheeks, forcefully making him face her. "You can because you have to jimin!"

"I'm gone." she whispered and his tears fell, passing over her non-existent hand. "I'm already dead."

"You have to let me go or you'll be tied onto lies jimin!"

"I don't care! As long as I'm with you—!"

"I'm not happy anymore." she said, and jimin was stunned, lips parting. "I'm not happy seeing you like this. Broken and lost."

—flasback—

He opened his eyes, staring at the woman he deeply loved in a pool of her own blood, glass shreds on her face. He whimpered, softly placing his hand by her forehead, trying to stop the bleeding.

"H-Help—" he said, voice lost over the emotions he felt. "Someone p-please—"

He held her hand, not caring about the pain he felt at the moment. He just wanted her safe. He waned her alive.

"Wake up love. Please." but she didn't move. She didn't breath and he refused to give up.

Jimin was a loving man. He had a strong faith and a strong desire to protect those close to his heart. He wasn't the kind of man that would easily give up.

As long as he can, he'll do anything to keep those important to him.

—present—

Even if they're already non-existent.

"Let me go jimin." she whispered. "You need to let me go. You're hurting both of us already. It's been a year already. Please let me go. "

"Let me go jimin!" she now shouted. He faced the lake again, his tears brimming his eyes. "Let me go please!"

"Please." she whispered once again.

Then, he closed his eyes, a tear falling off and rolling down his cheek. With the pain he felt at the moment, he didn't know what to do. It was as if someone was pulling on it so hard that it might leave his own body.

But her voice was gone now. She wasn't shouting anymore. She wasn't whispering or crying. She's gone.

Like how she should be.

"I love you." he whispered before he turned to wherever she normally was only to see no one. "I'm sorry."

"Jimin! Good heavens!" he turned to see his mother running up to him. "Don't just walk away like that—"

She halted, seeing his tears. "You let her go, didn't you?" she said, sitting down beside him. He stayed silent, leaning down to hug his mother. "You've been holding onto her for so long now baby."

"You need to stop seeking for her presence physically." she carresed his back. "Because if you really love her, then she'd be there." she said, pointing to his chest, where his heart laid.

"Even if she isn't here anymore."
