Ever since you talked with Maruki you somehow felt comfortable like if the heavens brought you someone who can finally understand your feelings and make you feel like you weren't alone or insecure in the world. Everyone treated you like an outcast but Maruki treated you like you mattered.

It wasn't until you bumped into that frizzy haired boy with glasses. That transfer student.

"My bad, I didn't mean to bump into you." You said.

The boy looked at you.

He's staring at me... Is he going to call me a creep like the rest of the people here? I'm honestly sick of it already....

"No, it was my fault. I should've moved away so you could pass." The boy said.

You looked at him with surprise in your face. That's the first time you didn't hear "Yeah it was your fault" or "watch where you're going." Instead he seemed to putting himself at fault for it.

"No no! It's fine!" You said.

"Hey, you're in the same class as me aren't you? Y/N was it?" The boy asked.

Your eyes widened, you didn't really know what to considering how no one has ever called you by your name before.

"Y-Yeah.... Why do you ask...?" You looked down.

"Want to hang out? You seem awfully lonely." The boy seemed worried about you.

No one has ever asked me to hang out with them before... Strange.

"What is your motive?" You asked.

"I just want to be your friend." The boy looked at you strangely.

Here I go making assumptions again... How long has it been someone approached me like this?

You saw Doctor Maruki walk around that's when you  ran up to him and hid behind his back in fear.

"Oh! Um! What seems to be the problem Y/N?" Maruki asked. He seemed nervous of what you were doing behind his back.

Akira walked up to Maruki.

"Ah! Good to see you Kurusu . What's up?" Maruki asked.

"Y/N, she's hiding behind your back.... Is she scared...?" The boy named Kurusu asked.

"What seems to be the problem Y/N?" Maruki asked.

You didn't say a word but held on to Maruki's back.

This is embarrassing...! I've never felt this way before...! Why am I hiding all of a sudden?! This isn't like me...!

Your face turned pink all of a sudden.

"Hang on Akira, I'll talk to her for you." Maruki smiled.

Maruki took you into his office in which you took the time to sigh.

"I'm so sorry Maruki, I didn't mean to do that. I felt a nervous tension in me when that boy approached me. I've never really been friends with anyone here so I don't know how it's like to feel this." You looked down.

"It's okay, if anything you should be glad that Akira approached you to be friends. He was just trying to be friends, were you perhaps shy?" Maruki asked.

You nodded.

"I've never seen that side of you before, that's adorable." Maruki smiled.

"I-Is that so...?" You looked down.

"It's like a whole new side to you. We need to open and release that inner Y/N inside you." Maruki kneeled down.

"The princess has been sealed in with a spell!" Maruki teased.

Princess...?! I'm no princess...!

"I don't get it..." You muttered.

"Sorry, did my acting make you uncomfortable? I know, I'm terrible at acting but I still try it out because hey there could be things maybe you're possibly good at." Maruki gave you a thumbs up.

You nodded.

"I really do hope one day you're able to show that side of me to you. One day I'd like to see the brightest smile you have. I bet you'd look nicer if you smiled for once. Hey, but don't force yourself! Just because I said so doesn't mean you gotta force yourself!" Maruki nervously said.

Maybe I do want to smile....

You tried to demonstrate to Maruki by smiling now but you just weren't quite there yet.

Maruki placed his hand on your head.

"Keep practicing! We need to bring out the inner Y/N in you!" Maruki nodded.

Maruki handed you more snacks and let you walk out of his office.

You saw Akira waiting outside for you.

"Y/N, I hope I didn't scare you earlier." Akira said.

You bowed down and apologized.

"I never understood what the students meant when they mentioned you were that strange girl... I don't see that you're strange but rather shy." Akira said.

The students really do spread rumors about me huh...?

You nodded.

"Is there something that made you feel that way?" Akira asked.

"Can't say." You muttered.

Akira looked at you but seemed to understand you.

"It's alright, you don't have to say. So Y/N, want to exchange contacts?" Akira asked.

You agreed and let him have your number.

He walked away and waved goodbye to you but as he left you felt the weight on you disappear.

"Next time I'll have to talk instead of being the silent protagonist in a video game..." You muttered to yourself and left home.

I wonder what Maruki is up to it or even thinking at the moment.

~~Maruki's pov~~

I grabbed my bags and just finished therapy with one of my patients, they talked about Y/N and how lonely Y/N seemed to be. I made sure to take notes about Y/N, I didn't know how much this girl would suddenly care about Y/N so much. I thought everyone was against her.

"If only there was a way I could possibly push her into being more communicative. Takamaki did say how she wished Y/N wasn't always alone. It must be hard to see someone alone like that." I sighed.

"I would also one day like to see Y/N with other people. It's my job to make people happy and as one of my patients I will make sure she gets the happiness she deserves." I nodded.

So much determination for this...
