|Chapter 18: Strange powers|

You woke up from a long nap feeling a bit scared. You thought about yesterday wandering around a place no one could see or touch except you. It was scary to even think of such a thing like that. Having powers you didn't even know you could possess or even use. What is this, some kind of fantasy world?

You looked into the mirror and noticed your reflection was different, in the mirror was you wearing what seemed to be a costume related to little red riding hood. You rubbed your eyes and made sure you weren't seeing things but in reality you were.

"Did these powers of mine make me go crazy or...? I feel like I'm going to start questioning everything now...!" You walked out of your room, your mom wasn't home in which you knew she was probably working.

Y/N.... Can thou hear me...?
A voice said out of nowhere.

You jumped a little in fear, being startled by such a voice calling out of you. You were home alone so there's no one here to talk to you.

Do not be afraid, it is simply I. I wanted to inform thou that their are others who are as unique as thee. They possess powers such as yours, you might be able join them. They're known as the Phantom Thieves of hearts.

"The Phantom Thieves...? I can't work with them..! They're far way too good at their job! I'll be a nuisance to them!" You yelled.

Nonsense child, thou had fought hard against the shadows. Clearly thou possesses such a great amount of power. Together the rest of thee could be such a great team.

"Who are these Phantom Thieves anyways...?" You has asked the voice.

The voice grew silent... Leaving you in nothing but silence.

"Hello...? Can you hear me?? Are you there?" You called out to the voice, trying to get its attention but it was no use since it stopped talking to you.

I guess I can't really speak to that random voice now...

You changed into your uniform and arrived to school a little bit late. You quickly ran up to Akira's group but noticed...

"Hey is it me or have we started to get more people in our group?" You asked.

"Whadya mean Y/N?" Ryuji looked at you confused.

"Well I feel like it was just us three but counting Yusuke and even the student council president Makoto it feels like our group has become bigger." You mentioned.

"Do you not like this big group?" Akira asked.

"No...! I don't have a problem with it...! It's just...! How did you all become friends so quickly...?" You stared at the others.

Ann, Ryuji, Akira, and Makoto looked at each other and then one of them spoke up

"Sometimes you feel like you're drawn to a person by favorite things." Makoto smiled.

You looked at them suspiciously but then remembered that strange building.

"Hey... You guys didn't see a strange building my any chance have you? I felt like it was just me seeing a weird building out of nowhere. When I walked into it I saw this big place and these ugly creatures. They even mentioned a owner of the place." You told them.

They looked at you in surprise until Ryuji bursted into laughter.

"A weird buildin' that no one can see...?! What a load of bull shit!" Ryuji laughed.

Everyone took the thing you said as it were a joke. No one believed you.

"I'm telling you all...! Seriously! They were called shadows or something!" You mentioned.

They looked at you with suspicion on their faces.

"Does that mean...? She can hear me too?" A voice said.

You saw a cat pop out of Akira's bag.

"Pretty interesting...? Can you hear me?" The cat asked.

"A talking cat...?! Woah...!" You freaked out a little.

Akira grabbed your arm and took you all the way straight home, with the others. You noticed a girl with orange hair roaming around too.

"What's going on...?! Am I in trouble?" You asked.

"In trouble...? No, you're not." Akira said

"What do you suggest we do Morgana?" Ann asked the cat.

The cat looked over at you.

"Nice to meet you Y/N, the name's Morgana.
For the record I'm not a cat but since you can hear me talking that means you must've have been to a palace or at least have a persona." Morgana said.

"Persona..?" You asked.

"It's what I like to call them, they're an inner you rebellion against something. You could be against things like cheating or the reality of the world being nothing but awful. That's how you get a persona." Morgana said.

"All I ask is that you join us, I know you're still new to it and I won't rush you but think about it Y/N. You can prove useful to us." Morgana asked of you.

You went home after that thinking about the possibility of becoming a new phantom thief. But that wasn't all in your mind, there was also about that mysterious place and how they referred to the boss as "doctor".

Who would have this desire and why would they have a palace out here....? Maybe I should do some investigating and find out. Although it'll probably be hard unless I don't find the palace's owner first.

You received a message from Maruki.

I feel like I haven't seen that name in a while...

"Hello Y/N, sorry to bother right now but do you think I can borrow you two days from now? There's something I'd like to do with you." Maruki sent.

Borrow...? Is that his way of saying it?

"Sure, I can hang out with you." You sent.

Maruki read your message and responded with "Great! I can't wait!"

So.... You've agreed to hang out with a friend. Who knows where the roads will take you. Maybe you could even consider deepening your bonds with everyone else. Seeing where it'll get you.

The voice faded away leaving you in silence again.
