|Chapter 57: Sorry|

You awoke, gasping for air as you looked around. You felt a bit scared for what was about to happen next. You felt your heart race and looked around.

"I see you're awake now." A familiar voice said.

Your eyes widened, feeling a bit scared.

You braved for impact as you covered your face with a blanket.

"D-Don't look at me...!" You yelled.

"Huh...? What's this all about??" Maruki's voice questioned you.

"I don't even deserve to be looked at by you. A shameful traitor I am for deciding to battle against you like this." You sighed.

"Do you know why I'm not mad at you?" Maruki asked.

"You're not....?" You questioned.

"I'm not mad at you because... I love you." You heard Maruki's soft voice said.

"No you don't, you can't surely love me after what I did." You placed your hands on your face in shame.

"(y/n)..." Maruki said upsettingly.

"Persona....!" You yelled as you tried to attack Maruki with your persona. You couldn't handle the anger in you.

You looked over at Maruki, he didn't summon his persona.

"I'm willing to take pain if that's what you want. All that matters if you're willing to forgive me after what I did... I really do mean it (y/n)... I apologize from the bottom of my heart." Maruki looked upset.

Your persona vanished.

You couldn't help but stare at Maruki with such a sad look on you.

"I'm going to need some alone time." You sighed.

"I understand, please do inform me if you need anything. Remember I will come by running towards you if you need anything." Maruki closed the door from behind you.

~~Maruki's pov~~

I felt my heart hurt a little, sad by the fact that this is turning out to be the same as the Rumi incident. Do I have to suppress (y/n)'s memories fully like I did to Rumi? (y/n) isn't in the right state and I don't want her to suffer. Not by the hands of me..

I looked over at my hands.

"All you seem to do is put people through worse situations, you act like you can fix everything or help someone in need but how can you help others when you can't help yourself?" I said to myself.

I took off my glasses and cleaned them.

"Sir Maruki, there are intruders." A shadow said.

"Send in shadows, do not let them pass." I said.

"Right." The shadow left on.

"(y/n).... I'm not sure I can keep you to myself anymore. I just wouldn't bare the fact of losing you. If I lost you I don't know what I'd do. Then again I could suppress your memories so that you don't remember any of this. But if I do this will all turn out to be like Rumi again." I thought to myself.

~~(y/n)'s pov~~

You felt tired yet hungry, it was weird being alone for such a long time.

Should I cook something...? Maybe I should...

You opened the door to your room and saw multiple shadows heading somewhere.

"Intruder? Phantom thieves? I would go but I... I can't." You sighed.

You headed for the kitchen to cook something, just on your way you felt another presence in there. You saw Maruki standing there with food on his plate.

"Oh, I made some food... You can have some if you want. I'm going to go now and leave you alone." Maruki was heading for the door to the kitchen.

You grabbed the back of his coat and tugged it.

"What's wrong...? You said you didn't want me around so I'm doing what you asked me to do." Maruki said.

You didn't say a word but nodded, still tugging on the back of his coat.

"You want me to stay...? Fine, I'll stay." Maruki turned back.

You sat down with him at the dinner table, however he sat far apart from you.

You ate your food and noticed how he kept eyeing you. It was silent between the two of you. Once you finished your food, you got up and looked over at Maruki, tugging his shirt again.

"Do you.... need something...?" Maruki stood up.

You nodded.

"What do you need? I'm right here to-"

You wrapped your arms around Maruki and placed your head by him.

"Is that what you wanted...? You could've said so..." Maruki put his arms around you.

"....I'm sorry." You looked down.

"It's fine, don't apologize. I should be the one to apologize, after that fight we had I would figure you're angry with me for not letting you go. I hope you can forgive me for being attached to you and not wanting to let you go." Maruki sighed.

"Maybe you should just... Give in Takuto. I'm tired of having these wars. I especially wish to live a normal and quiet life with you. Nothing bad, one where the two of us can be happy. Why don't you step down and-"

"You don't understand." Maruki muttered.

"What don't I understand??" You tilted your head.

"You don't understand how hard it is, wanting everyone in the world to be happy.... I just want everyone to be happy. I want to give everyone what they would've wanted. I could give you the same thing, but I doubt you'd let me give you that." Maruki said.

"I do understand...! What I'm saying is this is wrong...! I know you want to help everyone but out but you need to know what's important! Yourself, your friends, me..!" You shook Maruki back and forth.

Maruki placed his hands on your shoulders.

He looked like he was about to do something but didn't. Instead he looked at you with concern in his eyes.

"I-" He muttered.

Perhaps it will take him a long time to find it in himself that what he is doing is wrong... I need a plan, a plan for him to change his mind on everything. It's time he sees what he's doing is wrong.
