|Chapter 39: Don't Trust Him|

You received a text message from Akechi.

"Sorry about yesterday." He said.

Now he's apologizing? Why couldn't he just apologize and walk away. Talk about stuff.

"No it's fine, I should be sorry." You replied.

"Do you mind if we talk later? There's something I would like to discuss with you." Akechi said.

"Sure, what time?" You asked.

"Afternoon, meet me by the alleyway of Yongen. I'll be there waiting." Akechi said.

Afternoon huh? I was just just about to do some afternoon shopping... sure why not? It's not I want to get into anymore trouble after all.

You received a message from Maruki at the time Akechi was telling you to meet up with him.

"Y/N, I wanted to have some us time tomorrow since I'm free and I thought of you the instant I realized I don't have any work tomorrow. Want to go on a date? The two of us?" Maruki sent.

You immediately looked at the message and screamed a little inside. You tapped on the message, quickly replying "OF COURSE I WILL!"

Maruki was quick to read your message and typed "Haha, I love how quick you were to reply. I'll see you tomorrow then. I hope I get to hold your hand tomorrow." Maruki said.

"I want to hold your hand too...." You smiled.

You decided to go early shopping with Haru because you were going to meet up with Akechi in the afternoon and you weren't going to miss this meeting. Haru pulled up in a limousine as she stepped out of the car with a butler opening the door for her.

"Hey Y/N, glad to see you! Shall we go?" Haru smiled.

Rich people and their rich self... I'm so jealous...

The butler opened the door for you as you hopped inside and rode the limousine with her. You looked over at Haru who seemed to smile.

"What's wrong Y/N? Never been in a limousine?" Haru asked.

"Yeah, it's weird being inside one of these." You agreed.

You both arrived at a part of Japan that sells expensive clothes.

"Are you sure you'll be able to afford these clothes?" You asked Haru.

"I come here all the time to look for pretty outfits, they do have such nice outfits here." Haru smiled.

You and Haru proceeded to look around for clothes. There was no way you could afford these, they were over priced. You saw Haru with many dresses by her side.

"U-Um...?! Who's all this for...?!" You panicked.

"For you Y/N! I picked out only the finest!" Haru smiled confidently.

She ended up purchasing a lot of expensive dresses and once she did the two of you left out of the store and back into the limousine.

"Are you sure these are all for me and none for you? I mean come on these are all beautiful to wear... Meanwhile I'm just..."

Haru grabbed your hand.

"You mustn't fall deep into the thoughts of feeling ugly. If you were ugly you wouldn't have a boyfriend. You are beautiful Y/N, very beautiful! Feel confident about yourself and don't let the thoughts take over!" Haru pouted.

You felt yourself smile and nod. She dropped you off at your place leaving you to feel a lot confident about yourself. You went home to place the shopping bags in the living room and head for the alleyway Akechi told you to meet him at.

You ran towards the place feeling breathless, there he was standing there with his arms crossed.

"I didn't notice you, good afternoon Y/N." Akechi said.

"Hey... Hope I'm... Hope I'm not late..." You said.

"Not at all, in fact I was just day dreaming... Do you know why I asked you to come here?" Akechi looked at you.

"Not really, you told me you wanted to tell me something important in which I had no clue to. Please do tell, don't leave me feeling clueless." You said.

You saw a slight smile on Akechi's face, he placed his hand on his chin.

"Tell me, what is your relationship to Doctor Maruki-San?" Akechi asked.

This again...? What does he want me with me now?

"Why do want to know?" You asked.

"Curious is all, the won't use whatever you tell me against you." Akechi said.

"If you're saying that I'm going to trust you, however if you betray my trust I won't be afraid to hurt you." You frowned.

"You are free hurt me if I do what so ever. Cross my heart and hope to die." Akechi nodded.

"The truth is..." You looked around.

"The doctor happens to be my loved one, we've been like that for at least a long time now." You said.

Akechi looked at you surprised as if he didn't know what to believe.

"Do you not believe me?" You asked.

"No no, I do believe you. I've seen enough evidence for myself to realize it but..." Akechi looked serious.

"I suggest you don't trust him." Akechi said.

"What? Why?" You asked.

"He's a man of many secrets, whether the two of you are dating and trust each other completely there's still many things the man hides. Unfortunately for him I know his secret well enough for me to know." Akechi smiled but his smile looked like a sort of evil one.

"Don't trust him...? What are you..." You paused.

Akechi placed his hand on your shoulder.

"You'll know when you ask him about strange powers. That's where he'd pause and not be able to tell you. Maybe you can see it or forget once he suppresses your memories." Akechi walked away but stood still.

"Oh yeah, and good luck with your relationship. I'm sure the two of you will last or something like that." Akechi then walker off.

You felt your heart race once Akechi told you Maruki was hiding a darker secret. You felt as if you couldn't really know who to trust at the moment.

Maybe I should ask him tomorrow during our little date... It's about time he told me what was going on?
