|Chapter 4: A Feeling|

Ever since you gave Akira your number he's been trying to strike a conversation with you nonstop. This was the first time you've ever handed your number to anyone since middle school. You agreed to walk with Akira to school in which the two of you did. It was almost like he now became your best friend.

The two of you would go to class and even hang out now.

"Hey Akira! What about us?!" You heard Sakamoto say.

"I didn't forget about you Ryuji." Akira looked at Ryuji.

Ann came alongside Ryuji as well.

"Ann, Ryuji, I'd like you to meet Y/N. She's a shy one but I have a feeling we'll all get along soon." Akira nodded.

Ann gave you a hug, already welcoming you to the group.

"I don't know man, I'm kinda nervous just letting someone like Y/N in our group." Ryuji looked down.

Ann elbowed Ryuji.

"Don't be stupid! Y/N needs friends, it's about time we step in and be her friends! Y/N has been lonely it's out time to shine and welcome her in. After all we all have something in common and it's standing out against the others. We've always been the stand outs but ever since stupid Kamoshida left we're welcomed and we have to make Y/N feel welcomed too." Ann cheerfully said.

When Ann said that you couldn't help but suddenly smile. It was the first time you were suddenly smiling at what someone said.

"Yo! Look, she's smilin'!" Ryuji looked over at you.

Akira grabbed his phone quickly and took a picture of your smile.

"Is it weird to feel that happy in what I heard? I'm sorry I'll stop if you want me to." You asked.

"No no no! Y/N, keep smiling! You're beautiful enough to even show that kind of smile towards us!" Ann smiled.

Everyone else smiled too making you feel like you weren't the only one out of this.

"Hey if y'all got any time why don't we have some ramen outside of school?" Ryuji asked.

"Your treat?" Both Akira and Ann said.

"For real...?! Why do you both always have to weigh this down on me..." Ryuji sighed.

You couldn't help but laugh a little.

"Another special moment!" Akira said.

"Ryuji! Do it! Y/N just laughed!" Ann added.

"F-Fine...! Whatever, my treat or whatever." Ryuji frowned and looked away.

After class all of you gathered up together to go eat some ramen after school but you almost forgot about Maruki.

"Oh um! I'll be right back, I have something to do real quick!" You made up an excuse.

"For real? You got a boyfriend or somethin'?" Ryuji asked.

Ann elbowed Ryuji again.

"Ow! Why do you keep elbowing me?! I don't even deserve this!" Ryuji yelled.

"Quit making such assumptions Ryuji!" Ann frowned.

"....No, I don't have a boyfriend. In fact I didn't have any friends either until I met you all. But I'll be back soon." You nodded and ran off.

"She defs has a boyfriend." Ryuji said.

"Is that so? Now I'm kind of curious." Akira looked at Ryuji, tilting his glasses.

"Come on guys, leave the girl alone." Ann frowned, crossing her arms.

You ran up to Maruki's office but noticed there was someone else talking to him already. It was a girl and she was a third year. They seemed to be having a great time. You froze a little thinking about what were you about to do.

Should I...? I don't even know.... What do I do...? Do I tell him...?

You heard the girl talk about someone waiting outside the door. They both paused and it seemed like Maruki was going to get the door when you felt the urge to run. You did so and ran away returning back to the others.

"That was quick? So what did you have to do? Kiss your boyfriend goodbye or somethin'?" Ryuji asked.

"For the record I don't have a boyfriend." You said.

"Welcome to the singles club." Akira have a thumbs up.

"Both of you are so dumb..." Ann sighed.

You all went to the beef bowl restaurant to enjoy some beef bowls. You noticed how Ryuji finished his whole bowl and Ann only touched a little from her food.

"What's wrong? Not hungry?" You asked Ann.

"Me? Oh, I'm just trying to be careful with my weight. I do modeling and so I can't been seen at least gaining a few pounds or so. I need this skinny body that I worked hard for." Ann smiled.

I wish I could be like Ann and somehow be on a strict diet just to have a nice body like hers.

You finished your beef bowl and enjoyed the food here. Once you all finished your food you got out of the restaurant.

"Man that was a good feast! Although too much money wasted, how do you feel about the food Y/N?" Ryuji asked.

"It was delicious!" You nodded.

"Glad you liked it, we could go there at some points when I have yen. Anyways I gotta go, my mom's gonna need me to come home. Later!" Ryuji walked off into the distance.

"I have to go too! Don't want to miss out modeling!" Ann waved goodbye to you and Akira.

"Guess it's just us." Akira said.

You nodded and continued to take the train to Yongen Jaya and walk home. Once the two of you arrived home Akira's phone vibrated..

"It's Maruki, he's asking about you." Akira said.

"I um, tell him I'm okay." You nodded.

Akira looked at you strangely as if he knew you weren't trying to talk to Maruki.

"I gotta go...! Um tell I'm fine!" You ran back your apartment and sighed.

What is this feeling...? All of a sudden my chest feels tight but why...? Why is it that I'm feeling this way?

You tried to wash your face to forget about things that had happened today and so you did.
