[Daniel's POV]

I headed to school early as music was my first class. It was by far my favorite and I couldn't wait to play some instruments. Sure, I had a ton at home, but it was usually loud around the house so practicing them is difficult.

The door to the classroom had a note on it.

'If you are early, feel free to play an instrument, but only if you know how.
-Mrs. Polles'

I went inside and was met with music. It was the introduction to Let Her Go by passenger. I creeped towards the practice rooms in order to not disturb whoever was playing. The voice started singing and it was amazing.

"Well you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go
And you let her go"

I stared into the open door and saw Emma Wood. The most popular girl in school. What was she doing here? And she can sing? Wait, she can play guitar? I couldn't believe my eyes and ears.

"Staring at the bottom of your glass
Hoping one day you'll make a dream last
But dreams come slow and they go so fa-"

I leaned up against the door making in bang into the wall. Her eyes shot open and she almost dropped the instrument she was holding. I could tell my face was flustered from being caught watching. There was a small pause and then I spoke.

"No please keep going, it was amazing." I said, nodding my head towards her. She was blushing now too, but continued the song.

"You see her when you close your eyes
Maybe one day you'll understand why
Everything you touch surely dies"

I joined her beautiful voice at the chorus.

"But you only need the light when it's burning low
Only need the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go."

We finished the rest of the song, and honestly our voices sounded amazing together. I was singing harmony and she was singing the melody and wow. It was good.

You have a beautiful voice." I spoke after a small silence.

"So do you-" she paused, asking my name.

"Daniel, Daniel Seavey." That sounded really formal.

"So do you Daniel, Daniel Seavey." I laughed at her joke. "Oh I'm Emma, Emma Wood.

"I know." Everyone knows her.

"Yeah I guess everyone would." She looked down.

"I definitely didn't think you'd be the one playing the guitar and singing in the music wing this early in the morning." I gave a surprised chuckle.

She shrugged. "Well I love music so." Something was different about Emma than everybody thought. I don't think she liked being popular.
