[Daniel's POV]

Everything was set in place for Emma's treasure hunt. The clues were ready, and it lead to the practice room where we first met. There were roses along the way, with each of my friends holding them at each spot. Ellie would give Emma the first clue, and help her along.

It was Valentine's Day. Today is the day. I breathed out a deep breath and got ready for the day. Packing a suit, dress pants, shoes, and a bow tie in my bag, I dressed like usual.

I arrived at the music room early again, and Emma was there.

"Hi!" She greeted. She seemed awfully happy today. I hoped no one leaked the plan.

"Hi Emma!" I returned her smile, and tried to forget about my nerves.

"Our song is almost done, but I think we should add a few things." Emma got right to work. The distraction of music was good, but I still thought about what would happen later nonstop. "Daniel. Daniel." She pulled me out of my thoughts.

"What? Oh sorry." I shook my head. She giggled.

"It's ok." She continued writing down a few notes on the paper.

"Hey Dani!" Corbyn patted me on the back when I arrived by our lockers.

"Ready for today?" Jack asked. I let out another deep breath and nodded. What would Emma say?

"Don't worry about it, she'll say yes." Zach reassured me.

"She will." Jonah agreed.

"You guys know what you're supposed to do right?" I was so, so nervous.

"Yes Daniel, we've been over this like a billion times." Corbyn whined and threw his head back.

"You really need to stop stressing." Zach rolled his eyes.

"Zach, you don't even have the balls to ask a girl out." Jonah countered. Zach mumbled and grumbled something under his breath. Jack burst out laughing after hearing what he had said. Jonah shot him a glare, and he stopped with a awkward chuckle.

I needed to checkup on each station of the treasure hunt before Emma got the first clue. First, it was Corbyn. He was at the sporting goods store across from school. There was a clue by the volleyball's and once she found it, he would give her the rose.

Next was Isabella, and she was at the sand volleyball courts. Then Jonah at Starbucks. He would pretend to be employed there, and hand Emma her favorite coffee, a dark chocolate mocha. The drink would have the clue written on the cup, along with a rose tied to it.

Faith would be at her house, and the clue would be in the Rouge One movie container, with around next to it. Jack was in the cafeteria, with a rose and clue.

Zach, stationed where we danced in the rain, would have another flower, of course, and a clue. The clue would lead her to Lottie, who was at Emma's house. Charlotte would have the map, which led to me, and a rose. By then everyone should be at school in the music practice room, waiting with me. But that would only happen if this all went according to plan.

I arrived in the music room after checking up on everyone, when Jonah FaceTimed me.

"We have a problem." His voice came through from Starbucks. My eyebrows furrowed and I tightly closed my eyes. This had to go perfectly, or it wouldn't work.

"What is it?" I asked, trying to stay calm.

"Well, they won't let me pretend to work here." He sighed.

"Call me." I hung up quick, this plan better work. A few seconds later, he called back.

"What was that about?" He was confused and a little annoyed.

"I'm going to be your old boss." I explained the plan.

"Ok I have to change your contact first though." He spoke after I had finished. It was silent for a minute with a little buzzing in the backround. "Ok got it."

"Excuse me, my old employer is in the phone to recommend me." I heard his muffled voice. There was a change of placement of the device and soon a lady answered the phone.

"Hello?" She spoke.

"Hi. I'm Robert Tucker of ConocoPhillips Oil. Mr. Franzich is a hard worker and won't mess anything up. Now, you let him pretend to work there, or you, ma'am, won't be working." I threatened.

"Oh ok." She took a moment to respond.

"Mr. Franzich, you request is granted," she said and Jonah cake back on the phone.

"Nice going Mr. Tucker." He teased through the device. I could almost see him smiling. I wasn't smiling though. That was close. I was still so nervous.

"Ok just go do your job." I hung up on him again. I let out a deep breath and just sat. I couldn't do anything right now, I couldn't concentrate.

Then Emma called me. Why was she calling me?!? I hesitantly answered after the second ring.

"Hi Emma." I tried to sound normal.

"Hi Daniel!" She paused, and almost seemed nervous. "Do you want to come over and work on our song?" She invited.

"Uh no I can't. I have to take care of my cat." I lied. It was the best excuse I could come up with on the spot.

"Daniel. You don't have a cat." She spoke quietly. I had never lied to her before. We were just friends, but still, it hurt her.

"Well I'm busy!" I freaked out and yelled at her. I heard her breathing hitch.

"Bye." She just hung up. Did I just ruin this? Would she forgive me? I called Corbyn immediately. I had to tell him to let everybody know this whole thing was off.

"Corbyn." My voice whispered.

"Dani? What's wrong?" He was concerned.

"It's off. We're not doing this. Emma's mad at me." I blurted, angry at myself.

"No. We're doing this. But what happened?" I explained to him, and he leant his listening ear.  "Daniel.  She's going to understand. Don't worry about it." He hung up before I could object. I guess this was still happening.
