-chapter 14-

[Isabella's POV]

Lottie, Zach, Ellie, Jack, Faith, Jonah, Daniel, and I all arrived at the sand volleyball courts during seventh period. Emma and Corbyn has left at the same time as us, but weren't here.

I took off my shoes like everyone else, but then realized we didn't have a ball to play.

"Hopefully Emma or Corbyn will bring one." Ellie said as we waited for them.

Eventually Emma showed up and I spotted Corbyn's car right behind her. I started to get jealous even though it was probably nothing. Corbyn took a minute to get out and when he did he had a volleyball.

"Corbyn where were you?" Zach yelled from his side of the court with Emma, Daniel, Lottie and Faith. Jonah, Jack, Ellie, and Corbyn would be on my team.

"I stopped at home to get this." He held up a yellow striped volleyball. On his way to the front of the net, he passed me it as I was in the serving spot. It looked brand new but I thought nothing of it.

The ball flew over the net and Faith hit it, followed by Emma. She had passed it to Daniel, but he missed when trying to spike it. I high fived Ellie who was in front of me. The ball was rolled back over to me and when I picked it up, there was a message written in black sharpie. I hadn't noticed it before.

It said 'Isabella Medrano Rivera, will you go out with me?' in Corbyn's handwriting. I knew it from math class. I froze. Was this actually happening? Was it real? Did he like me? Was he asking me out on a date?

I raised my head and my gaze immediately landed on Corbyn. I dropped the volleyball and sprinted the short distance towards him. I leaped onto him, wrapping my legs around his waist and arms around his neck. I hugged him so tightly I was sure he would suffocate.

Eventually I pulled back and looked at him.

"Yes! Yes! Yes!" We smiled at each other.

"Um did I miss something?" Jack broke the little moment. Ellie slapped him on the chest and he pretended to be hurt.

"He asked her out dummy," she said and we laughed. Corbyn put me down and I asked when our date would be.

"Tonight?" He was unsure.

"Perfect." I smiled and blushed. We continued our game of volleyball and all I couldn't think about was how excited and nervous I was for tonight.

"Ok you are definitely wearing those jeans." Emma told me after seeing the tie-die washed pants. We were at her house, and all four of them were helping me get ready with my date.

"And with this." Lottie threw me a long sleeve simple black shirt with little white flowers down the side. I put it on and looked in the mirror. It was different than my normal sweats, but I looked good. My dark brown, almost black hair, was slightly curled, and I had on my normal vans.

The doorbell suddenly rang and that signaled that Corbyn was here. Elle and Fay ran down to let him in while I checked my outfit a final time.

Em, Lottie, and I went downstairs to my date. Corbyn stood there with a smile on his face, wearing a white NASA hoodie, blue jeans, and light camo vans. He looked amazing as always, and it seemed as if his eyes sparkled even more when they saw me. If not, I'm sure mine did.
