[Emma's POV]

Daniel's face fell as soon as I rejected him. It broke me to see him like that. He rushed out of the room, obviously holding back a few tears. Everyone stood, staring at me with their mouths open. What did I just do?

I ran the opposite way, away from Daniel, and to my Jeep. I messed up. I messed up really bad. It was a simple answer that I gave, but I didn't like it.

Arriving at home, I saw my mom and her boyfriend, Mr. Hansen, in the living room. I ran past them and up the stairs to my room. My mom didn't even notice. She didn't even come to comfort me.
______________

It had been a few hours since the whole situation, and I was still miserable. Did I have feelings for Daniel? Or was I just feeling guilty for rejecting a friend.

My phone rang, with a call from Faith. I wiped a few tears and answered.

"Hi Emma. You ok?" Her soft voice sounded through the speaker.

"I don't know." I sniffed and trailed off.

"Why did you say no?" She asked after a long pause.

"I-I dont know." I repeated. I really didn't know.

"Well do you like him? Or not?" Fay asked another question.

"I think I do. I just- I don't know." I rested my head in my hands as a few more tears fell.

"Well we're all here if you need to talk." She told me. "Bye Em."

"Bye." I whispered back.

I really didn't know if I liked Daniel. He's always been so sweet and kind. He's extremely talented, and also handsome. What more could I ask for in a guy?

I rushed downstairs after a sudden burst of confidence, not even caring about the blotches of mascara on my wet cheeks. I turned on the engine of my Jeep and drove to Daniel's house. I somehow knew where he lived.

Running up to the door, I stopped right before knocking. Was this a good idea? I had already made it this far, I might as well fix it. I knocked, and a few moments later, a woman, who I assumed was Daniel's mom, opened the door.

"Hi is Daniel here?" I asked her.

"Yes he's up in his room. You must be Emma. I'm Keri." She introduced and held out her hand. I shook it. She must've known I was the girl who broke Daniel's heart by the black stains on my cheeks.

"Could I talk to him?" I fiddled with my rings and she invited me in.

"Sure. Second door on the right." Keri instructed and pointed up the stairs.

"Thank you." I slowly stepped up the stairs, unsure of what I would say after seeing Daniel. I would just have to wing it. My hand paused in mid-air, not knocking. I finally forced it forward, and two soft taps came from it. There was no answer, so I knocked against the wood again, this time a little louder.

"Not now." Daniel's soft voice croaked.

"Please Daniel." I begged and in a few moments I heard the lock unlatch. I slowly opened the door to find Daniel, under the duvet of his bed, with AirPods in, messing around on a laptop. His hair was a mess, and he had definitely been crying. He didn't even glance at me as I sat at the foot of his bed, not facing him. "I'm so sorr-"

He cut me off. "No you're really not."

"Daniel, please, just hear me out." I begged again and resumed what I was saying.

"I am sorry. When you lied to me earlier today, it hurt, a lot. I didn't know why you had and I just thought you were mad at me or something." A few more tears escaped my eyes and I wiped them away. "A-and then you asked me to be your girlfriend." I took a shaky breath. "And I-I lied. I said no. I-it was all in the moment and I didn't know what to do, so I lied. The truth is yes. I want to be your girlfriend if it isn't too late. I don't want to lie to you anymore."

Daniel finally glanced up after I turned towards him. His eyes seemed to melt at my teary cheeks.

"I don't want to lie either." He ripped the covers off and pulled me into a huge hug, giving me little kisses on my forehead. Daniel pulled away from the hug and wiped the fresh tears away from my face, as I did the same to him.

We were both pulled in by a strange force, and our lips passionately locked together in a kiss. We held the kiss for what seemed like forever, but I never wanted it to end.

Eventually, we had to pull back to get oxygen to our bodies, but came back in another kiss, followed by a hug.

"I love you." Daniel whispered in my ear. I needed to hear those words from him.

"I-I love you too." I replied earnestly, not wanting to mess everything up again.

"Want to go somewhere tomorrow night?" He asked. I nodded.

"Hey Dani-boy! Let's get some Chipotle!!!!!!" Zach barged into the room using a deep voice. "Oh." His face reddened when he saw us. "I'll just head out." He pointed and went back the way he came. Daniel and I burst out laughing after Zach left.

"So is that a yes?" He asked again.

"Yes." I pecked him on the lips.

"I love you."

"I love you too."
