[Jonah's POV]
Everything was set up perfectly. There was a plaid picnic blanket for us to lay on, with little jars surrounding it. I had bought a couple of packs of fairy lights. I put clumps of them in jars, and there were trails connecting each container. It looked great.
The sun would set on the buildings and hills in front of us. We could see it all.
I rushed back down the hill as there was only a little over a half an hour before I met Faith at the cafe. Hopping in my car, I sped downtown and parallel parked near the shop.
Inside, a waitress guided me to a booth, next to the window. Every time the bell above the door rang, I looked up expectantly, hoping it was my date.
After a few minutes, she showed up in a cute yellow dress. It had spaghetti straps and little flowers dotted around. She was focusing on me as she entered, and when she was close, she spoke.
"Hi." She whispered.
"Hi." I replied, standing up. I wiped my sweaty hands on my jeans. We sat down on opposite sides of the table. "Would you like a coffee?"
"Yes please." She said politely. I signaled the waitress and she came over.
"Two black coffees please." She nodded and returned to the kitchen at the back. She came back to our table with two mugs, and a pot of the fresh drink.
"Thank you." Fay and I said in unison. We giggled and took a few sips.
I gathered up the confidence to complement her. "You look beautiful tonight."
"Thank you." She blushed and I smiled at her. She returned it.
"I'm sorry about what happened with Bryan." I apologized. She just shrugged.
"It's alright. He was terrible to you guys anyway." She gave a small smile.
"For the record, it was Zach's idea." I blamed him. She giggled with me and nodded. "You like sunset right?"
"Yeah I love them." She ducked her head down. I sighed knowing that I had had a good idea about our date.
"I like them too." We smiled at each other yet again. "Want to hear a joke?" She raised an eyebrow, skeptically, but then agreed.
"Sure."
"Why can't you hear a pterodactyl go to the bathroom?"
"I don't know?"
"Because the pee is silent." I started chuckling at my own joke. Faith just face-palmed herself and rolled her eyes. "What? You don't like jokes?!"
"No I don't like puns and dad jokes."
"Oh." Good going there Jo Jo.
"It's fine though. That was actually decent." She may have just said that so she wouldn't hurt my feelings, but whatever.
"Ok. Whatever you say."
"Ok I've got one." She smiled and took a breath. "Why did the chicken cross the road?"
I blinked a few times. "Really?"
