The Next Day:
Today is the day that I start my very first day of junior year, and not to mention I'm starting my new school year here in Atlanta. The only thing that's exciting to me about any of this is the fact that I get to leave this over sized house. Don't get me wrong it's a nice to place to raise a family, but unfortunately I don't consider my family a regular loving family. Last night once my dad came back home from god knows where, him and mom argued. They argued for hours making me toss and turn in my new furnished queen sized bed, which may I add feels like I'm floating on a cloud in heaven.
Deciding to surprise my ungrateful family with breakfast in bed, I went to the bathroom to handle my morning routine. Finished braiding my hair straight back leaving the ends out creating a small puff, I headed straight to the kitchen. My eyes took a glance at the completely decorated kitchen, however the room was still filled with boxes. I guess somethings still haven't change. My mind is made up, so I went straight to the boxes trying to find anything that looked edible.
Slowly, I took out the oatmeal and prepared it so I could leave out soon. Me being me I like to try and be a perfectionist and make everything seem just right. Heading upstairs with the tray in my hand with their food, I gently tapped on the door to get no response. Any other day I wouldn't care about them not responding, but today wasn't that day. This time I banged on the door only for my ignorant dad to open it.
"What in the hell do you want, Kaiyln?"
I'm about sick of his attitude since I did him a favor, but imma just let it go. While I'm trying my best to ignore his snarky comment, I took the tray over to mom as she stirred in her sleep. As fast as I placed the tray down dad went straight to grab his food. In my head I silently thought that a "thank you" would be nice, but whatever.
"Why isn't this mess warm!" dad semi yelled, as he continued to swallow what he considered to be a mess. I rolled my eyes in irritation.
Before the words could leave my mouth mom's raspy morning voice stopped my comeback from escaping, "Carter can't you see that she did your ungrateful self a favor? If you don't like it, I'll just go out and get us some groceries. Why do you have to start so freaking early in the morning?"
I bit my lip in response to my mom's words because I already know that dad is about to snap at any moment. As soon as my thought reached my thoughts dad's food went across the room.
"Don't even bother. I'm going to go ahead and go to work. Hopefully they'll feed me something worth eating," dad said, as he slammed the bathroom door.
The room went silent as I thought about just leaving. In all honesty I'm just waiting for mom to say the word that we're leaving him, but of course I haven't been that lucky. Almost forgetting about school I sighed before whispering, "I'm going to get dress then going to head out to school."
Mom gave me a small smile before sighing, "I hope you have a good day at your new school, Kailyn. Also, I already sent you the directions to your school."
Since, I've already had enough of the both of them I only nodded before walking out.
...
Finally at school:
Here I am standing right in front of the double doors that will lead me to my new beginning. My walk here only took about fifteen minutes before I reached a new scenery. From the outside looking in the school seems to be like any ordinary school, but as I took my first step into the building that all changed. My brain immediately began to compare this school from my old one. As I headed straight to the office, I feel all eyes on me. Finally seeing a door that read "school counseling" I went into the room. My eyes easily met a tall but a slender man walking across the room.
"Hello, I'm Mr. Chadwick and I'm one of the school's counselors here at Atlanta High. I hope that you have a good experience here and if there's anything that you need please don't hesitate to come by," smiled the counselor, as he extended his hands towards me. The only thing that came to mind was a simple "thank you".
Since I was ready to get this day over with, I made my way to the door.
"Wait. Here's your class transcript. In the back of your folder there should be a brochure of the many activities and clubs that we offer here.
While trying to not be rude I whispered, "I appreciate that sir. I think that I should get going before I'm late."
Not really caring for a response, I left the room of course when trying to open my locker it became jammed. I guess it's just apart of my luck. Since my luck was no where insight I decided to keep my things with me. I'm now standing right in front of my first period, but my nerves are getting the best of me. I really hate all the attention on me and just as I'm giving myself a pep talk, the door to the class opened right before my face.
"Are you coming in? Please, take a seat. You're late, but I'll excuse your tardy," said a women with a short bob and thick glasses that framed her face. I'm guessing the women is my teacher named Ms. Rochelle. Before taking my seat, I glanced around the room to take in my surroundings. Immediately I can hear chatter fill up the room. My eyes roamed throughout the room following the noise, which led me to stare at a group of basic looking girls.
