Maya was so caught up in the detective's movements that she barely heard a word the man said.

"How did you even get in here? Her daughter-"

Deciding to stop him from continuing, "I can speak for myself thank you. Dr. McCall I am good, you're good to go. And who are you again." She now looked him in the eyes to notice they were also between the color grey and black.

"I'm Detective Anderson or you can call me Kyle, honestly it doesn't matter to me." he shrugged making himself welcome to a seat by her bed.

"Well detective what do you have to tell me?"

"Well ma'am-"

"You can call me Maya, I'm not that old, but continue..."

Making a small chuckle he continued, "Well Maya, after Kailyn came into the hospital you gave us permission to take a look in your apartment. We ruled the evidence as a suicide, however in these type cases we still ask around. After talking to some her peers some say she wasn't acting normal. Some even said that she stopped showing up to school in general, so we just want to get all the details about the case for our investigation," he said looking Maya directly in the face.

"What are you trying to say? Kailyn, was an odd child she would always stay to herself. I would always just think that she was going through that "teenager phase", she would barely utter a word. If you're asking if I knew if my daughter wanted to commit suicide, well the answer is no."

"We aren't saying that all, more like an observation. You have to want to know what happened to your daughter and that's where we come into play. Everything that you said is all a start, but we need more. Here's my card. My office and personal number is on both sides. If you think of anything else or have any questions give me call. When you feel up to it we need for you to come down to the Bureau. Thank you for your time, Maya," said the detective, standing up to straighten his suit then passed his card to Maya. Maya grabbed onto the card and watched the detective walk out the room.

...

Against the cold metal door Dr. McCall eavesdropped to the detective's and Mrs. Monroe conversation. When the door abruptly opened, he stepped back while trying to play it off that he was being nosey. Apparently he didn't do a good enough job because the detective only laughed. Dr. McCall hurried to walk in the opposite direction, until he was paged back to the ER. His job was never done.

*Kailyn's POV:

I bet y' all think I'm dead, right? Let me stop because y' all already know that I am... so far I just lay still pretty much the same thing as before. Until my skin tingles and I can literally feel my heart flutter. What in the world?

The echo of the heart monitor beeped making it apparent that I have a heart rate. I'm beyond confused right now. I thought that I'm technically dead, but maybe the doctors were wrong. I can feel my body functioning.

"What the-"

"Is that the heart monitor going off. Somebody call Dr. McCall!"

Some time went by until finally, "I'm here! What's happening?"

I felt a pair of hands around my wrist checking for my pulse.

"Her monitor was just beeping. I'm pretty sure she's still alive."

My eyes flicker open allowing me to see a white light. They must be trying to blind somebody. As my eyes adjust to my surroundings I'm asked several questions.

"Kailyn, can you hear me?" I nodded in response. With a dry cough. My mouth feels stuck with a nasty taste of air.

"She's awake!" a nurse gleamed.

Everyone in the room all seem surprise about me living. In honesty I'm surprised too. I'm suppose to be dead and gone for good, but no here I am alive. I can't lie, I regret everything. I deserve more because I'm worth living for.

...

*Omniscient POV:

"Your daughter's alive! I'm going to the get the nurses to wheel you to her."

Dr. McCall had already checked Kailyn's vitals and everything seemed normal now.

"H-how... is that even possible?: Maya cried tears of joy and thanked god for him blessing her once again.

"I like to think of it as a miracle the luckily unexpected. I really don't understand it myself, but what's more important is your daughter being alive. I just thought you show know in a couple hours you can go back and see her we're just running a couple test and scans to make sure that everything is all good."

As Maya wiped away her tears of joy she smiled, "Everything has to be ok if she's alive, but I get it, I just can't wait until the both of us can get out this hospital. Since y' all like to hold people hostage."

Dr. McCall chuckled before heading out the room to check on Kailyn. Since she was alive they had to be sure that she recovered correctly.

"How are you feeling young lady?" said Dr. McCall with his arms crossed against his chest leaning against wall smiling at Kailyn.

She was fast asleep, but easily stirred in her sleep from the sound of his raspy voice, "Kai, it's me Marcus but now Dr. McCall to you."

Immediately her eyes popped open. She knew it couldn't be. Not the Marcus from Virginia the person she thought about so often. She remembered in her coma the name "Dr. McCall" but she never would've guessed it would be him. She didn't even recognize him probably by his deep sounding voice. Who would've known that he would be the person who saved her life however he didn't even know it. Now more than once?
