Omniscient POV:
"Beep, beep, beep!"
*Recap:
"Someone help! I think she's having a seizure or something. Help!" Shouted Kyle in panic.
Lucky for him Nurse Jayde was on the other side of the door. His yelling had got the attention of her making her rush into the room to see an unresponsive Kailyn.
On the other side of the hospital Maya sat in the waiting amongst others reading the last entry of Kai's Peace Diary. She had no knowledge on what was happening in the back with Kailyn. As she dropped her phone into her purse to make herself a cup of coffee, she saw a distraught looking Detective Anderson. Before she knew it she was already in his embrace. She wasn't sure what was wrong but she knew it had to be her daugther.
"Is she ok? Where's my daughter?" asked Maya frantically.
Kyle held his head down low feeling that he was to blame for it. Maybe he pushed her to far with the questions.
"Umm... I was asking her a question then I showed her a picture that my boss discovered when going through her file. Then all of a sudden she started shaking and her nose wouldn't stop bleeding," he said sadly comforting Mrs. Monroe.
Maya only frowned feeling that she failed her daughter again. Maybe it was a sign for something. Her daughter already went through a lot nearly reaching death now three times. What if this time they didn't have the same outcome.
About an hour later...
Maya nor Detective Anderson had heard anything from any of the nurses or doctors on Kailyn's condition. They just sat down looking defeated.
Suddenly Nurse Jayde appeared looking worn out. "Come on back," she gestured for the two to follow her.
She didn't confirm their fears so they assumed that everything was ok. Instead of taking them directly to Kailyn, Nurse Jayde bought them to another waiting room closer to her. They were face to face with a short woman who had on lab coat and mask covering her face.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Dr. Michelle. The replacement doctor for Dr. McCall. Your daughter is fine. She was experiencing a seizure. They're somewhat common after one comes out of a coma. The body is still trying to adjust. Basically learning how to refunction and operate. We'll keep an eye on her but other than that let her get some rest. The more she rests her brain will have more time to function correctly. When trying to force memories on her it will most likely cause something like this. Let her take it easy," the doctor gave Mrs. Monroe a reassuring smile before exiting the room.
"She has a new room. Follow me," said Nurse Jayde.
Once they were in the room they saw Kailyn connected to a new monitor but she was breathing.
"I think I should go," said Kyle. He felt wrong about staying all this time and he didn't want to step over any boundaries.
Maya was so out of it that she didn't even hear him. Eventually Kyle had to grab her to get her attention, "Maya you hear me?"
"What? I'm sorry. What did you say?"
"You good. I said that imma head out and give you sometime with your daughter."
"Oh...ok thanks for staying. I appreciate it."
Kyle frowned, "It's the least I could do. If it wasn't for me questioning her this all could've been avoided-"
"Listen Kyle don't beat yourself up over this. Kailyn is going through a lot and your questions couldn't have been that bad."
"Thanks for saying that. Imma head out and grab you something for dinner. I'll be back," he smiled leaving Maya to smile back.
*End of recap
Kailyn's eyes fluttered open slowly. Immediately she panicked thinking about everything that happened before she blacked out. Who would've thought that a picture could cause so much? Though her body seemed relax her mind was the furthest from it. She rubbed her temple to relieve all the tension she was feeling.
"You're up," whispered Maya.
"Yeah, what happened?"
"A seizure. They say it's common after a coma. Even relates to stressing the brain. They ordered for you to rest."
Kailyn nodded doing exactly what her mom said, resting until there was a knock at the door. As Maya opened the door she was greeted by Detective Anderson holding up two bags of food from A.N.D.'s Diner.
"Hey I bought you back dinner for us. I got your normal burger and fries with a shake. And as a way of apologizing I bought Kailyn some soup. Since I know that she has to be tired of this hospital food."
Maya reached for the food giving Kyle a side hug in return while he smiled showing off his perfect white teeth. Kailyn watched them both and shook her head in disbelief. She knew that look that the detective was giving her mom too well. He didn't have anyone fooled, but she thought it was funny. But if it meant her mom would be getting a divorce sooner than later then she was all for it. Her mom deserved some happiness after all.
"Here's some soup. I apologize for my questions being too much. I'm just trying to get to the bottom of everything."
Kyle bought her A.N.D.'s famous chili soup. The smell of it made Kailyn almost cry. It had been weeks since she last had a real meal. Not to mean it being Mr. Andy's cooking. She was tempted to call him and Jessica but she couldn't.
Eating a spoonful of her soup she thanked the detective, "Thanks." she mumbled.
"No problem." everyone ate in silence and enjoyed their meal.
After a while it was almost 10:00, so the detective said goodbye to Maya and Kailyn before heading back to Atlanta Bureau to get back to work.
"How you feeling?" asked Nurse Jayde, while checking Kailyn's vitals.
"Ok," she mumbled focusing on her music. She wasn't in a talking mood. Not trying to be disrespectful or anything she just wanted to be alone.
Nurse Jayde checked Kailyn's bandages before tossing her gloves in the trash then turned back to Kailyn.
"Well I'm about to head home. I'm tired, but if you need something you know what to do. I'll be back at five, so hopefully you won't need anything until then."
Kailyn only nodded not looking up from her phone. When ever she had one of these mood it was best for her to stay to herself. Her mouth could get reckless for no reason. All because she didn't want to be bothered. She didn't even know why she was feeling so down. Could it have been because her father popped up to the hospital, her mom not catching hints, or the fact that Marcus was gone and she couldn't talk to him? Not to mention her health was garbage. She just wanted to escape it all but her life wouldn't allow her.
