Meanwhile...
Kailyn sat uncomfortable in the hospital bed bored out of her mind scrolling through the channels on the tv. Settling on a re-run of Martin she slowly began to doze off until she saw a figure in the darkness of her room. It was now late so it only could've been one person, Dr. McCall.
"You know about this supposed case of yours?" accused Marcus with his arms crossed, while he leaning over Kailyn.
While trying to wipe the tiredness out of her eyes she shrugged. Marcus grew tired of her not responding the way he needed her to. Slowly, he grabbed onto her hands so she could stop fumbling with them and give him her attention.
Looking her directly in the eyes he questioned, "Yes, no, or maybe so. I need you to answer me, Kai."
Kailyn was confused from his sudden questioning, but was still consumed by his eyes staring back at her for answer. "Yes and no. I mean I'm not sure. My mom hasn't told me anything. When I was still in the coma, I remember the news playing and the reporter said something about them starting a case. Why, what's up?"
Marcus dropped her hands and paced the floor. "This man was here trying to question me about you. He basically gave me an ultimatum to go down to his office." Quickly Kailyn tried her best to sit up in the bed until her monitor increased in sound.
"Chill out and take it easy. I just want to tell you I'm leaving the hospital for a while and maybe go back to Virginia to see the family. I don't need them detective's questioning me. When it's not my story to tell. I mean I'm apart of it, but not exactly apart of this particular situation. I just couldn't leave you again without saying bye."
Kailyn hung her head low feeling an unexpected amount of sadness. She couldn't tell him how much she wanted him to stay, but it made sense for him to go. If she had the option, she would've done the same. Marcus noticed how quiet Kailyn was because that was something that she never was. So he decided to stop being in his feelings and irritate her.
"I know little miss Kai isn't going soft on me." Kailyn laughed, while sniffling wiping away the few tears that she tried to not let escape.
"Never that but I don't know it just feels like every time my life feels like it getting back to normal something else always happens. You know Marcus you saved me once and you did again. Like I don't know what it is about you. You're so annoying and obnoxious but at the same time caring and understanding." She continued to cry, while he just listened. "I get why you're leaving, so I don't blame you. You've done more than enough for me, so yeah I get it."
Marcus smirked pulling her into one of his many hugs but this time it feel different. After about two minutes, the two pulled away from each both feeling awkward. He reached to wipe her tears away.
"I didn't mean to make you cry, but I guess it's good to know you'll miss me." Kailyn glared at him. "Anyway I already booked a flight for tonight, so I need to get going. If you need me just call me and text me later, my number never changed.
Without that being his last word he glanced back at Kailyn to see her eyes red and tears still strolling down her face. He bent down once again to wipe her tears and kissed her forehead then whispered, "Stop crying."
After she got herself together she looked up to see Marcus smiling at her.
"Bye ugly," he chuckled.
"Bye weirdo," Kailyn smirked.
Dr. McCall had one last stop to make. He already made sure to request some time off work and booked his flight he just needed to go home and pack. Making sure that he grabbed all his things he walked over to the nurses station to find Nurse Jayde.
