Today is the day of Kailyn's blood transfusion and something felt odd to Mrs. Monroe. After thinking about what Nurse Jayde said, she thought long and hard about whether or not she wanted her daughter going through with a blood transfusion. She didn't want to cause anymore pain, so she did what she thought was best.

With there being nothing else to do to other than worry, she couldn't help but to think about Kailyn's hospital bill. She knew that it was probably wrong to think about money while her daughter was fighting for her life, but it was still a factor.

"Can I check my account balance, please? spoke Maya, to the nearest receptionists.

The woman didn't even look up and Maya thought it was rude, "Name?"

"As in my name or the patient's?"

"Either."

Maya, thought it one thing to not look up when talking to someone but one word answering someone was annoying.

"Well I'm Maya Monroe. My daughter name is, Kailyn Monroe."

The woman didn't acknowledge her she only typed away on her computer. Finally after a couple minutes the sound of the printer was noticeable.

"Here-" she handed her a slip of paper and went on with her day.

Maya rolled her eyes in annoyance, while snatching the paper from the lady.

"Wow thank you so much for your hospitality," she said being sarcastic.

Looking down at the paper her eyes nearly fell out $450,000 is what she currently owed as of the moment. How was she going to pay for this? She barely had enough to cover the bills she had now.

She still hadn't told Carter about Kailyn, so maybe this was a good time to tell him and hopefully get some help. She nervously dialed the number she used to call faithfully every night.

On the very last ring the deep voice of her husband echoed through the phone, "Wassup?"

"U-um...hey, Carter it's me. Maya."

She could hear him laughing in the background, "Oh, so now I'm Carter? What happened to me being an a**hole, huh? What do you possibly want from me?"

Maya tried to ignore her anger for the sake of her daughter. "Well I thought you should know about Kailyn. She's in the hospital."

The sound of shuffling filled through both calls, "I heard." Which was the truth because with his job he knew everything.

"So you weren't going to come and check on her?"

"You're her mom, you got it. Besides you wanna act like you don't need me no more, so do you." he snickered.

Maya was ready to go off from his nonchalant attitude. "Carter, you're daughter is literally fighting for her life and that's all you can say. She's also you're daughter and she needs both of us."

Again he laughed, "Are you sure? I mean you did have her when we were young."

"Excuse me? Are you try to call me a hoe? I know who I laid down with, which was only you, you bastard. Don't you dare try to say Kai isn't yours..."

"Again, what do you want?"

Sighing in defeat, "She's in a coma and needs a blood transfusion. I just thought you should know and come here to see her."

She decided to not ask for any money since he was acting disrespectful.

"Well when you know for sure that she's dying let me know then I'll think about coming. Until then don't call me," he said hanging up.

Maya silently cried throwing her phone. And thought to herself how could she be so dumb and sleep with Carter when she was so young. She loved Kailyn with all her heart, but sometimes she thought how much less heartache she would have, if she would've chose a different path.

...

Thinking that it was now time to go home and change her clothes, since she still had the bloody clothes on from the first day Kailyn came into the hospital. She needed a hot shower and something to eat. She had about an hour before she needed to get back to the hospital before Kailyn's blood transfusion procedure.

Walking up to her apartment door she felt a wave of sickness. Opening the door she was instantly hit with the flashbacks from the other day. A trail of blood led from the balcony floor to the front door. She still remembered the paramedics dragging Kailyn's body out the door.

Deciding to clean up the path of blood, Maya stripped out her blouse and found the bleach and cleaned up the area until she heard a knock at the door. Preparing to open the door she remembered her appearance. She didn't care about how she physically looked because her daughter was in the hospital but she needed a shirt since she only had a bra and jeans on. Hearing the knocking get louder she rushed to get the door.

"I'm coming! Give me a sec.." she said unlocking the door, sighing and opening the door without looking to see who was there.

Rolling her eyes she mumbled, "What are you doing here?"
