"Is that you really you?" coughed Kailyn. Every since she woke up she couldn't stop coughing.

"Last time I checked," he laughed. "It's been like almost four years since I last seen you. You even still look the same minus you looking grown." He stopped to think before he spoke, "I just want to know why? Why would do it? You were so close to killing yourself! You're too smart to do something so dumb you had-"

"Who did I have Marcus? I couldn't depend on you because you were so worried about everyone else. No one else knows what I went through other than you. And the one time I needed you the most, you weren't there that night. So you thinking I'm dumb is straight up some bull. So I think you and I both know my reasons for doing what I did?

He frowned knowing exactly what she was talking about, but he tried so hard to be there for her but he couldn't.

"I thought we agreed to never speak about that night again."

"Correction, you agreed. God blessed me with a mouth so best believe I'm going to use it."

"Kai, not now! I see nothing changed with you. You just did the unthinkable. You're suppose to be dead, so count your blessings."

Kailyn rolled her eyes in response she couldn't stand him still. He was still annoying and cocky per usual and she hated it.

"We can talk about everything tonight, but until then I need to warn you about tomorrow. They're requesting an observation to be done. A specialty doctor who's more like a therapist will come and speak to you. They ask questions and you answer simple. So don't be your normal difficult self."

"Excuse me, but that's all you. I think it's funny how you basically described a baby sitter."

She chuckled, thinking how much hospitals and people always think the wrong thing. Yes, she did try to commit suicide, but that didn't mean that she was crazy. It meant that she was tired and hurt something that they didn't know.

"You know what Kai, I'm not about to argue with you. And before you ask, no I can't stop them from coming to see you. It's beyond me. Maybe it'll give you some closure about-"

Not able to go on with the conversation she had to cut him off, "Hey, can we talk about this later? I'm starting to not feel good again." She asked as a way to avoid going down the path of memory lane.

"Yeah, Kai you don't need to ask. I'll give you some more medicine," he gave a higher dosage of pain meds before looking back up at her. When looking at her face, he was instantly hit with the moment Kailyn brought was into the hospital.

*Flashback:

"I know not..." he said to himself.

He knew it couldn't be the same girl from those few years ago. That was one of the main reasons why he left Virginia. The guilt. He was eighteen when he met her. He was sort of like a intern on the job. He seen her before around school, but never took time to speak to her. He knew that she couldn't  be any older than 13 because she had that baby look to her. Not in a bad way though. She just had thick glasses and wore a bun. She was alone in the corner with tear stains and bloody clothes on. He knew that he couldn't leave the girl alone because his mom taught him better than that. That's how it all started between the two.

All his old memories came back to him, but he forgot that he had a job to do.

"What's her name?" he asked as they rushed her to the back for surgery.

"I think the paramedics said it's Kailyn um..."

"Monroe," he whispered to himself, finishing the other man's sentence. He knew he was right but now he had to save her.
